Oh, will you shut up and stop complaining, please.

You have no right to be threatening other people, who don't mean to do you
any harm. I'd be honored at having people beg me to correspond with them.

Now, stop being such a meanie.

Ooooh.... I prefer Vanilla Ice, myself.... I sincerely believe
that "Ice Ice Baby" was divinely inspired.... I mean, could lyrics like
"Something/ grabs ahold of me tightly/ flow like a harpoon daily and

I'm proud to say that I always recognized Vanilla Ice for the no-talent
poser that he was. Hammer took a bit longer to realize, but let's not get
into that.

> ah yes, tiffany. my friends and i entered our school's talent show in

*laugh* That just brought a moment to mind from our talent show in
fourth grade. Four or five guys put on wigs and dresses and lip-synched
to "Hangin' Tough". I wasn't one of them, of course... I was one of the
emcees.

NO WAY!!!!! It can't be!!! I used to go to this Daycare place in
early elementary school, and we were standing in line for some reason.
This boy started harrassing me, so I think I slapped him or something.
Anyway, the supervisor person put these 3 girls that were like, 4 years
older than me in charge of me. They were my special friends. Well,
anyway, they did a talent show thingy to that song, and they taught me
it. That's my special song.... *sigh* memories.

I've wondered about the whole debate about Barbie's body shape.
From what I read in other areas, like architecture and typography,
you can't just scale something up and have it look right.
Something small has to have more extravagent proportions than a
larger version.

A few weeks ago I saw an episode of _Freakazoid_ that would

gonzo liked miss piggy on the show and on the cartoon.
gonzo also like camilla his chicken also on both.
kermit and miss piggy on the show had a thing.
miss piggy wanted kermit but he was too shy/embarassed in the cartoon.
there was no competition on the show, but gonzo felt insecure or
something or this need to prove himself to the pig.

I used to watch the fragles as kid. In fact I still have this book of fraggles
and it's so cool (as far as it goes, my dog tore out the last page.). Gonzo
loves Camilla as was shown in the Muppet movie 'cause he saved her from the

I'd seen the movies and some of the old show, and some of Kermit

Yeah, I was a bit underwhelmed by the new theme song as well... but
I suppose it would be hard to improve on the old one. :) Does the new

Viewmasters? Wern't they the little grey/red things you held up to your eyes,

I submit that Sesame Street was better when Snuffy wasn't wandering
about the streets as a normal character, when Big Bird the MAIN character,
really, and when they had the proper ending and beginning bits, not these
annoying 90s versions. :)
I think a mark of a good children's show, though, is when you can
turn it on later and life and still find it interesting. I watched an ep
of Mr. Roger's Neighbourhood the other day. It was great fun. He went to
visit the people in _Stomp_. (It's an off-Broadway play, for those of you
who've never heard of it. :) AND the theme songs for it are still the same.
And the charaters in the land of Make-Believe are still the same characters.
:) Although he is horribly scarily nice, even in real life. It's bizarre.

It's even worse up here in Canada. Even before they took it off the
air completely (I live close enough to the states that I can still see
an American version if I want), they had a version called "Canadian
Sesame Street", where certain segments had been cut and replaced with
segments involving Canadian puppets. Some old lady and a bear. And
they said "centimeters" and "kilograms" a lot, and they spoke French
even worse than my parents. I liked Sesame Street much better 15
years ago - who can forget such classics as "I love, love, love to be
a cow" and "Sing"? Who can forget that little girl who would say the
alphabet, but replace random letters with "Cookie Monster"? (That
scene was unrehearsed - Itr was just supposed to be the alphabet and
that's all)

But, I will say this in favour of the new Sesame Street. One word:
Geena.

Those are relatively recent. My family has some *really* old ones that
were sorta dull reddish and gray. And they were boxy instead of having
the smooth, feminine curves of the modern ones. (HA! Wonder how many
people I upset with that one!) Yes, they are genuine View-Master brand 3D
viewers.. I think at the time they were covered by a patent which is
probably expired now.

To imagine what they look like, if the orange-red ones are Saturns then
the old ones were Volvos. That's not intended as an insult to anyone,
but rather a description of the different style.

And some of the old reels (correct name of the little picture wheels)
were supposed to be Educational. We've got one of medieval artifacts
from a museum, and several "travel" type ones of various places around
the US.

We also used to have a projector that would flash the pictures on the
wall, but I think the bulb burned out and we couldn't get another one or
something, and it ended up in a garage sale.

i don't know. miss piggy seems like a total and utter bitch to me. sure,
she can kick ass when she wants to, but she's a big softie underneath it
all or something. she's a lump of butter. or lard.

gonzo isn't violence man. it's the mad bomber who bombs at midnight! ;)

but yes, muppets could be the perfect people. they're cute, they sing,
they know different languages, and if you're pissed at them, you can
always rip their head off. ;)

ok, that's it. i'm going for grover. grover is *mine* since i can't have

was anyone depressed when mr.hooper died? or exicted when luis and maria
got married? what i really loved about sesame street was that had so many
different ways to teach/say something. and just for kicks, you could also
learn some spanish.

from what i've seen from the semi-makeover, they still incorperate some
of the video clips and put some new ones. cookie monster rapping was
vonderful. focusing on oscar's pet worm really wasn't until it showed it
could form some letters of the alphabet.

near...........far!!!!

i was actually watching the show the other day when this robot had to
measure things for the olympics and it started talking to daniel the
striped tiger and i said out loud "ooh look! he still wears the watch!"

i really loved their little operas they'd put on fridays..

elmo is so damn cute! but i've got to gripe about these telethons. sure,
pbs is important and it should be kept alive, but i think they'd do a
better job raising money if they aired some much more interesting things.
one can only handle yanni, peter paul and mary, and the three tenors for
only so long. i liked the les mis thing and the enya thing but they kept
repeating the same old thing. i remmeber last year when they aired "tales
of the city" again. i was so damn happy.

another thing i don't get is why do they even bother to go sell the videos?
you can tape 'em right off the tv..

>yeah! i have v-day cards that have super grover on them. :)

oh gawd, i can't remmeber the last time i saw v-day cards.

i remember the theme song. =) i remember when they did a rendition of
"rock me amadeus" that was so great. i thought nanny had the worst
fashion sense i've ever seen. sure, the green and white horizontal
striped socks were cool. but with a pink top covered by a purple sweater
thing? and blue shoes? i think not.

i loved the end when animal says "gooooo bye-bye!"

>*happy sigh* life is good, as long as the muppets and sesame street are

these figurines exist? cool. =)

but i think i'll go out and look for one of those pop-out books. i loved
pop out books. also there was like a sesame street encyclopedia or
dictionary or something about the alphabet. and songbooks.

now i wanna work there.,

You stop minding Molly's accent when...well, a certain event happens. I
don't think they've gotten to it in the current round of reruns, so...

The attacks sound much better in English though. Given that they used
to be in really-heavily-accented English.

: debbie - who's extremely pissed at the dubbing of luna's voice

She sounds like a middle--aged woman from England.

Just wait until you hear Artemis's voice though. Whoah.

annoying 90s versions? *gasp* are you talking about the version where
elmo is hanging by a kite that's flying up to the sky, and then the
clothes and the clothes line start dancing?

mor.hooper? who's that? *slight blush* i feel so unloyal at the moment.

*smile* i never saw that one. i have an episode wheere (at the end)
gordon and susan (the new people i guess) are in the park and they're

fun of them. *grin* and then he starts to chase after those chickens. ;)

Fred Penner lives in Winnipeg... on Elm street I think. A friend of mine was
his kids' nanny a couple years ago.

hmm... never thought of that before. :P Actually, I know a few people who
live on elm. Maybe I'll have to watch them a little more closely. In case
something should possess you to go there next halloween, it's in River

Sesame Street rocks, man!

Elmo is * so * funky!

Kermit is also kewl.

They'll never go off the air but they'll have to continue the little
fund-raising thing they have every hour ... at least they have that in
Minnesota every hour...

but t.v. has no time for barney.

Argh. I keep thinking of the sea-god of folk tales when I see the name
`Elmo'... :) (And `so damn cute', well, doesn't fit as an attribute to the
god. ;)) Those who don't know about the god might know about Tolkien's
Ylmir/Ulmo, or `Elmo's fire' of seafarers' folklore (Elmo's fire is the
strange light you can see above the mast of a ship in a big storm; to do
with lightning, I think).

And Elmo the mighty, so damn cute,
a great storm did make, terrible and huge.
A monster was unleashed, a horrible creature
with long forked tail and a cute muzzle.
With his long muzzle he did probe
deep in the sea, and found a Ring of Power,
a cute little ring, fair and perilous.
The Ring did he eat and its power defeat,
and Elmo the terrible the monster killed
with wave and wind and old ship-wreck.
A great wave broke out to the strands
of Angla-land so bright, the western strands
where old Mac Donald quiet did live,
and the farmer's daughter was no more.

(Ok, that's not quite alliterative, nor quite in any metre, nor very good as
verse in any case, but... ;))
