While any death is sad, especially when the person is so young, this
particular death is devastating. Radical social liberals held Ms. Winehouse
as a hero and role-model for todays' young ladies. Hopefully, these girls
follow the examples of virtue demonstrated by Mother Teresa rather than
those of Amy Winehouse. RIP.

LONDON (AP) -- Few artists summed up their own career in a single song - a
single line - as well as Amy Winehouse.

"They tried to make me go to rehab," she sang on her world-conquering 2006
single, "Rehab." "I said 'No, no no.'"

Occasionally, she said yes, but to no avail: repeated stints in hospitals
and clinics couldn't stop alcohol and drugs scuttling the career of a singer
whose distinctive voice, rich mix of influences and heart-on-her sleeve
sensibility seemed to promise great things.

In her short lifetime, Winehouse too often made headlines because of drug
and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, destructive relationships and abortive
performances. But it's her small but powerful body of recorded music that
will be her legacy.

The singer was found dead Saturday by ambulance crews called to her home in
north London's Camden area, a youth-culture mecca known for its music scene,
its pubs - and the availability of illegal drugs.

The London Ambulance Service said Winehouse had died before crews arrived at
the house in leafy Camden Square. The cause of death was not immediately
known.

I agree.
In November 2007, the opening night of a 17-date tour was marred by booing
and walkouts at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. A music critic for
the Birmingham Mail said it was "one of the saddest nights of my life...I
saw a supremely talented artist reduced to tears, stumbling around the stage
and, unforgivably, swearing at the audience."[82] Other concerts ended
similarly, with, for example, fans at her Hammersmith Apollo performance
saying that she "looked highly intoxicated throughout",[83] until she
announced on 27 November 2007, that her performances and public appearances
were cancelled for the remainder of 2007, citing doctor advice to take a
complete rest. A statement issued by concert promoter Live Nation blamed
"the rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy
has been under in recent weeks" for the decision.

I suppose she will be made into a saint like John Belushi, Elvis, Michael
Jackson, River Phoenix, and the list goes on and on.

Like I stated, radical social liberals. Have you ever read any of the posts
that these people ( e.g. Budikka or Mickey Malkin ) have written? There is
no person or thing that is too contemptible for them for them to hold in
high esteem. Remember, these are the same people who glorified renowned
serial killers George Tiller and Jack Kevorkian

Compared to "Mother" Teresa, Amy Winehouse was a true Saint. "Mother"
Teresa, compared to Ms. Winehouse, was a sadistic bitch, a liar, and a
true monster of our time.
Rest in peace, Ms. Winehouse.

It has to be hard being an ugly broad, but becoming famous and rich, and
a person nobody says no to. These famous young girls are the talented or
lucky 1 in 10 million who make it. Getting caught with drugs or liquor
or getting laid and knocked up, is simply a matter of spending money to
put it behind you. The one thing young people don't see much of and
don't respect is premature death. Too bad they couldn't enjoy a normal
life.
I see a goof like say, Paris Hilton. She has fame, and money, and does
what she wants, but say what you might about her, she is not a total
train wreck. When she did exactly what the court wanted her to do when
she had her troubles, they locked her up anyway, and we got to see how
she was not a train wreck.
Lindsay Lohan is probably one of the most beautiful women in California,
but she is a train wreck. She unfortunately won't last long the way she
lives her life. Reminds me of a future Donna Plato.

No, was a nasty, evil, vindictive bitch. Refusing even pain medication

Oh, she wasn't against birth control, just as long as it was the rhythm
method approved by the Vatican, known to be 100% ineffective! And that
is only the start of a very, very long list of highly sadistic behavior
she indulged in. Perhaps one of the very worst was the denial of pain
relief for the dying in her care. Then there's the "usual" opposition
to condoms, the opposition to sterilization, no matter how many children
a person had, the opposition to oral contraception, the opposition to
abortion (she bragged that she could always adopt out orphans, no matter
how many there were, in India, no less). All in all, Mother Theresa was
one naughty little girl!

Actually, it's the Nobel Committee who does that, appointed by
Parliament.
Apparently, nominations work like the American electoral college.

I was going to bring up Arafat's nomination, but Erik Brandt (NOT the
guy from Iron Butterfly) topped that in 1939, by awarding one to
Hitler.

The only person she was "serving" was her own greed. Keeping drugs, even
simple pain killers, away from people dying of cancer, yet as soon as
she became ill it was onto a private plane and checking into a private

drugs away from those who were begging for pain relief.

Slight correction: Elvis is not a saint, he's a god.
Carry on.

• Mormons have even proxy-baptised Adolph Hitler into the LdS Church.

[ref: Adolf Hitler was "baptized" and "endowed" on December 10, 1993, and
"sealed" to his parents on March 12, 1994. These events took place in the
London Temple, England.]

Sort of like the way some people idolize a senile former Nazi whose
main goal in what remains of his life appears to be to cover up the
misdeeds of bum-punching priests, eh, IBen?

Hypocritical fuckwad.

she's a saint at least in death

"Mother" Teresa, Amy Winehouse

By Jen Odell

The $4-million North London mansion that Amy Winehouse called home is slated
to become the headquarters for the new Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity
the late singer's parents are establishing to support "causes close to
[Amy's] heart," her father, Mitch Winehouse, told The Sun.

the conservatives won, stop gloating except for that little debt rating
thing, their victory would be perfect

GOP on Verge of Huge, Unprecedented
Political Victory
By Greg Sargent, The Washington Post
01 August 11

by all accounts, it looks like a deal is about to be announced in which the
debt ceiling is hiked in exchange for the promise of major spending cuts,
including to entitlements, totaling at least $2.4 trillion.

Anything can happen, but it appears the GOP is on the verge of pulling off a
political victory that may be unprecedented in American history. Republicans
may succeed in using the threat of a potential outcome that they themselves
acknowledged would lead to national catastrophe as leverage to extract
enormous concessions from Democrats, without giving up anything of any
significance in return.

Not only that, but Republicans - in perhaps the most remarkable example of
political up-is-downism in recent memory - cast their willingness to dangle
the threat of national crisis as a brave and heroic effort they'd undertaken
on behalf of the national interest. Only the threat of national crisis could
force the immediate spending cuts supposedly necessary to prevent a far more
epic crisis later.
