Newlywed movie star Julia Roberts was branded a "husband stealer" by her new
hubby's ex-missus. So says the online version of London's The Sun.
Roberts, 34, wed cameraman Danny Moder last week, but shattered Vera Moder
warns it won't last, according to The Sun.
The blond make-up artist says: "I'll never be able to forgive Julia, she's a
husband stealer. But it won't last with her anyway. She will be looking for
a new husband within a year. Danny has a roving eye, too, and he won't
change. He cheated on me and he will cheat on her."
Vera, 29, adds: "Julia has been desperate to get him down the aisle, and
she's got her wish. I never wanted to lose him, but I've given up now. But
look at the warnings her ex has given. Benjamin Bratt couldn't stand the
goldfish bowl existence. Will Danny be able to? I very much doubt it."
Sources say Roberts paid Vera $150,000 to hurry along the Moders' divorce.
Vera won't discuss the figure, but she is said to be furious over the affair
because she believes Roberts is just infatuated with her hubby.

Julia's a 'husband stealer'

NEWLY wed movie star Julia Roberts was last night branded a “husband
stealer” — by her new hubby’s ex-missus.
Superstar Julia, 34, wed cameraman Danny Moder on Thursday — but shattered
Vera Moder warns it won’t last.
The blonde make-up artist says: “I’ll never be able to forgive Julia —
she’s a husband stealer.
“But it won’t last with her anyway. She will be looking for a new husband
within a year. “Danny has a roving eye, too, and he won’t change. He
cheated on me and he will cheat on her.”
The 29-year-old adds: “Julia has been desperate to get him down the aisle and
she’s got her wish. I never wanted to lose him but I’ve given up now.
“But look at the warnings her ex has given. Benjamin Bratt couldn’t stand
the goldfish bowl existence. Will Danny be able to? I very much doubt it.”
Danny, 33, and Julia married in a romantic ceremony in a chapel specially built
for the occasion on the star’s New Mexico ranch.
Julia invited family and more than 80 guests to the Independence Day bash,
which ended with a spectacular fireworks display at midnight.
But the party was overshadowed by rumours that Julia had “bought off” the
first Mrs Moder.
Sources say the Erin Brockovich star paid Vera £150,000 to hurry along the
Moders’ divorce.
Vera won’t discuss the figure but she is said to be particularly furious over
the affair because she believes Roberts is just infatuated with her hubby.
She may have a point. Julia has a history of intense but shortlived liaisons.
Her first marriage, in 1993, to oddball country singer Lyle Lovett broke up
after just 21 months.
Before that she had dumped actor Kiefer Sutherland three days BEFORE they were
due to get married in 1991.
And she walked out on fitness trainer Pat Manocchia shortly after accepting his
proposal of marriage.
Her other lovers have included Dylan McDermott and Liam Neeson as well as
flings with Ocean’s Eleven co-star George Clooney.
Julia even became known as the Runaway Bride after one of her films about a
woman who keeps jilting her fiancés at the altar.
But insiders say the marriage may also be doomed because of Danny Moder’s
womanising.
They say Julia was shocked after Danny confessed he had bedded 1,000 women. One
pal says: “Julia’s had her men but they number less than 20.
“It is bizarre that Danny was intimidated by her because she was intimidated
by his track record between the sheets.
“She asked Danny how many women he’d had and he told her. It hit her like a
ton of bricks.
“Danny is a dark horse. He comes across all quiet and shy but the women go
gaga for him.”
Apparently the Pretty Woman star even sought the help of a sex guru after randy
Danny revealed his past.
The friend says: “Julia felt really insecure — ironic seeing as the
consensus of most folks is that Danny is a nobody.”
The cameraman earns just £42,000 a year compared to Julia’s £20million per
movie.
But the pal says: “Danny assured her he would never let her down and they
were taking a decision that would bind them for life.” Julia was happy but
her mother Betty certainly wasn’t. The friend says: “Betty was like, ‘Who
is this kid? What’s he done?’
“Julia felt embarrassed at having to explain her actions to her own mum. But
Julia wants a baby and she believes Danny will be a great dad.”
Moders’ parents, too, are far from happy. They are close to Vera and are
furious at the way she has been treated.
His father Mike, a film producer, says: “Vera is a wonderful girl. We all
love her. She was one of us — part of the family.
“When Danny first told me he was dating Julia Roberts I asked him, ‘Son,
what are you smoking?’
“I made it clear to Danny — and Julia — we weren’t pleased. He and Vera
had seemed so close together. Vera stuck with him when he was down on his luck.
She washed his shirts and underwear. “We were all wondering, ‘Will Julia do
that?’”
Danny met Julia on the set of movie The Mexican. Within days they became
lovers, even bedding down in her mobile dressing room off the set.
Stunned Vera — who has now reverted to her maiden name of Steinberg —
caught Danny with a cellphone number in his pocket.
Curious, she rang the number — to be greeted by the voice of the movie icon.
Roberts initially told Vera she had got the wrong number.
But within a week Julia had called the heartbroken wife asking if she could
take “her man” to dinner.
A friend says: “Vera never backed down from Julia. But she couldn’t believe
her nerve. She couldn’t believe the coldness in her voice.”
But Patti Dyson, a longtime Roberts’ family friend, says: “All I can tell
you is she is in love with Danny. He loves her and they believe this is for
keeps.”
And another of Danny’s pals says: “He loved Vera, but he fell head over
heels for Julia.
“Julia grilled him just last weekend, asking, ‘Do you really love me? Will
you love me when I am 60?’ He told her, ‘I do and I will.’”
The pal adds: “It’s a shame there’s been so much back-biting and poison
flying around over the split with Vera.
“But Danny has two goals now. One is to make Julia the dream husband she has
always wanted. “The other is to bury that Runaway Bride tag for good.”
Minutes before Danny married Julia, wedding guest George Clooney wished him
well.
Michael Waterman, a friend of Clooney’s, says: “Danny has gone up in
George’s estimation because he has done something George could not have done
— marry Julia.
“George told Danny, ‘Good luck son, you’ll need it.’ OK, George had
something going on with Julia but no way would he want to be her husband.
“At one point George thought he loved her. But she is a piece of work with
all the hype and bulls*** that surrounds her.
“He couldn’t put up with that hooplah. Ben Bratt told George when people
started to dub him ‘Mr Roberts’, that was it — he had to get out.”
If the same is true for Danny Moder then there may be a lot more fireworks to
come on the Roberts ranch.
