Can someone refresh my memory on who JT Walsh is? I know I should know this,
but I'm having a brain cloud.

Thanks,
Carol

Actor J.T. Walsh dies of heart attack

LA MESA, Calif., Feb. 27 (UPI) _ Actor J.T. Walsh has died at Grossmont
Hospital in La Mesa, Calif., at the age of 54 after suffering a heart attack.

Walsh became a character actor at the relatively late age of 31, having worked
as a social worker, journalist, salesman and teacher.

He is best remembered for playing heavies in a recent hit films including, ``A
Few Good Men,'' ``Sling Blade'' and ``The Grifters.''

Many of his roles were played in various military uniforms, such that of Sgt.
Dickinson in ``Good Morning Vietnam,'' and Red Barr in ``Breakdown.''

Walsh's publicist said the actor had just completed work on ``Pleasantville''
for New Line Cinema and ``The Negotiator,'' a Warner Bros. release.

During the 1996-97 television season, Walsh reprised the role of Frank Bach, an
ominous Navy captain in the NBC-TV series ``Dark Skies,'' and played Col.
Norman Schwarzkopf Sr. in HBO's ``Crime of the Century.''

The actor whose name may not be familiar to many, but whose face was
everywhere, was born in San Francisco, and was 5 years old when his family
moved to Europe. He attended boarding school in Ireland and studied for a year
at a West German university before returning to the United States.

He got his undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Rhode
Island and had a short stint as a South Bronx social worker. Throughout
subsequent career changes, Walsh was active in community theater and was asked
to turn professional in 1974.

He made his Broadway entrance in 1984 in the David Mamet play ``Glengarry Glen
Ross,'' which catapulted him to a feature film career beginning with ``House of
Games,'' ``Tin Men,'' and ``Tequila Sunrise.''

He is survived by his son, John West of Los Angeles. Funeral services will be
held Tuesday in Los Angeles.

He's done tons of character work. My favorite was the military man with a
conscience in "A Few Good Men."

I *thought* that's who it was, but what threw me off was the age...did I
imagine that it read 45??? I'm 42 and if JT was 45, well, DAMN I look good!

In Slingblade, he was the inmate in the mental hospital that kept on talking
about killing young girls.
