Cops: "Little" Star Hit Bar, Drove Car
Posted Jul 31st 2007 2:31PM by TMZ Staff

The pint-sized pop on the TLC reality show "Little People, Big World"
has been hiding a pretty big secret -- he was busted for DUI last
month.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, 45-year-old
Matthew Roloff was arrested on suspicion of driving under the
influence of intoxicants, around midnight on June 19 after cops claim
that Roloff's van had been swerving on the road.

Roloff, who then failed a field sobriety test, was taken to Washington
County Jail, where he was cited and released.

'Little People' Star Speaks Out on Arrest

July 31, 2007 12:21 PM PDT

Reality star Matthew Roloff says he is not guilty of Driving Under the
Influence of Intoxicants

MATTHEW ROLOFF of TLC's "Little People, Big World" was arrested for
Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants last month in Washington
County, Oregon.

Now he's speaking out on the incident in a statement to ET, saying, "I
have entered a plea of innocent. I respect the judicial process and in
fairness to the court I will not comment further on this case until it
is resolved."

"We understand that Matt Roloff has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
We respect the judicial process and will not offer comment until court
proceedings have run their course," the TLC network added.

According to the police report obtained by ET, "a Washington County
Deputy saw a white 2005 Chevrolet van was failing to drive within its
travel lane. The van was traveling westbound on NW West Union Road
near NW Cornelius pass Road. These roads are in the unincorporated
area of Washington County. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was
identified as 45 year-old Matthew Roloff from the Helvetia area.

"Mr. Roloff allegedly failed the field sobriety test and was arrested
for DUII. Mr. Roloff was transported to the Washington County Jail
where he was cited for DUII, refusing the breath test, and failure to
drive within the lane."

The 45-year-old Roloff was released after being cited for the traffic
violation.

So let me get this straight, he was arrested for DUI, meaning his BAC
was over .08, and they let him go to drive off? If he was really
intoxicated they would of kept him in the drunk tank until he blew a
level that was under .08.

He refused the breathalyzer test?

No, they said he was "released". That does not mean he drove off. Probably
had someone from his family pick him up.

Tonight on the news they said this is his second dui. Had another one about
3 or 4 years ago.

Not much, that's why dwarves often get DUIs.

I say they nail his sanctimonious hide to the wall, much like they
should for car murderers Rebecca Gayheart, Brandy Norwood and Lane
Garrison.

This article doesn't mention Matt Roloff's *last* DUI charge, which
was in 2003 (apparently).

I live in Portland, where Roloff lives, and they mentioned it on our
local news. In fact, they said because of his past DUI, he is not
eligible for alcohol or DUI class and will have to serve whatever
sentence they give him.

This was such a small violation. He should get a short sentence.

Are the jails equipped to deal with someone with his physical needs? I
doubt it -- maybe. Maybe he'll just get probation. I was very sorry to
read this about him. It was very disappointing. On the whole he seems to
be a wondeful person -- a lot more than I can say about the Lindsays and
Parises of the world -- who (if it's true that he was driving drunk) made a
seriously bad decision.

Matt is pretty self sufficient. I can't think of anything he'd need
other than a footstool to reach the sink.

Why is it we have so many laws and spy cam intended to make things
better, but they just seem to be getting worse? Perhaps the answers
aren't in rules and spy cameras? Uh...the government could help out
if they improved public transportation or cab fares, nationwide, to
shuttle these drinkers to and from the bars/pubs. I mean you have to
drive to get to the bars/nightclubs, etc. and they sell alcohol at
the gas station. How hypocritical to turn around and prey on your
citizens once they've bitten into the forbidden fruit...from a tree
that never leaves the garden of Eden.

Jo Davenport, who wrote "The Canadian Way," moved from Atlanta to Nova

move, saying that she disagreed with the Bush administration's
decisions after 9/11. "Things are totally different here because THEY
CARE about their people here," she says, explaining that she's only
been back home once or twice.

Good. It will serve him right to pay for his reckless crime. He could
have killed someone, or even his own (miserable) self. The
sanctimonious little hypocritical twit.

Why are his DUI's nicer than those of Lindsay and Paris?
