Richardson hospitalized in Montreal

Was feeling fine for an hour after tumble during private lesson

Montreal GazetteMarch 17, 2009 11:21

In this 2007 photo, Natasha Richardson (left) and Vanessa Redgrave
(right) star in the film EVENING. Richardson was hospitalized in
Montreal after a skiing accident near Mont Tremblant Monday.

Actress Natasha Richardson, reportedly in serious condition with a head
trauma in a Montreal hospital after a ski accident Monday at Mont
Tremblant, was walking around and feeling fine for an hour after her
accident, a Mont Tremblant spokesperson says.

łShe was laughing and joking and she walked to her room on her own,˛
Mont Tremblant spokesperson Catherine Lacasse said.

The British-born Richardson, 45, was not wearing a ski helmet when she
was taking a private ski lesson on the Nansen, a beginnersą run at Mont
Tremblant, she added.

Richardson, wife of actor Liam Neeson and daughter of actress Vanessa
Redgrave, was at the bottom of the run, in what is known as the flats,
during the mid-afternoon lesson when she fell and tumbled down the hill.

She did not hit anyone or anything before coming to a stop. The ski
instructor was by her side within seconds, Lacasse said.

There was no external sign of injury, no cut or bleeding, Lacasse said.

Two ski patrollers assisted Richardson but she was not put on a
stretcher, Lacasse said. Richardson then went to her room at the
resortąs Quintessence Hotel, where she had been staying since Sunday.

The patrollers stayed with her for an hour. She started having headaches
and she was transported to the Centre Hospitalier Laurentien, not far
from the ski hill.

Richardson was later transferred to Sacré Coeur Hospital in Montrealąs
intensive care unit. A spokesperson for the hospital would, not however,
confirm or deny that she was still there on Tuesday.

Corin Redgrave, Richardsonąs uncle, told London's Evening standard
newspaper: "I have heard this morning from a family representative about
Natashaąs accident and am very saddened."

Britainąs BBC said a member of Richardson family, who asked not to be
named, said the whole family was "very distressed".

Richardson's husband, actor Liam Neeson, 56, came to Montreal from a
Toronto film set to be at his wife's side, according to a spokesperson
for Neeson.

łLiam Neeson left the Toronto set immediately to fly to Montreal upon
news of his wifeąs accident,˛ the rep said in a statement.

łWe do not have any details at this time but we hope for the best and
our thoughts and prayers are with Natasha and Liam and their family.˛

Neeson had been in Toronto filming the movie Chloe, being directed by
Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan.

Richardson and Neeson have been married since 1994. They have two sons,
Micheal Richard Antonio, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12.

Richardson has appeared in about 30 films including The Parent Trap,
Maid in Manhattan and Nell. She won a Tony Award for her role the
musical Cabaret on Broadway in 1998.

Neeson is known for his roles in Schindlerąs List and Star Wars Episode
I.

Richardson was set to appear on Broadway with her legendary mother, 72,
in a revival of Stephen Sondheimąs łA Little Night Music.˛

Perez is reporting that she's passed away. Very sad.
Wear your helmets!

Perez sited Time Out New York as his source and they just retracted
their statement. Hopefully she'll make a full recovery.

The New York Post is saying she's brain dead. The Montreal Gazette
quotes someone from the hospital as saying she's no longer in Canada -
doesn't say where, but I'm guessing New York.

The thing is, what *you* would like to see doesn't enter into the
picture.

This is why Perez and other internet gossip losers suck so much. They
don't double-check sources or wait for REAL info.

You said "I would like to see" TWICE!

And now you're saying "It is not what I would like to see... "

Yes it is. You said it twice.

The people involved do not owe you, me or anyone else any kind of
explanation.

Jumping in here - your gripe seems to be without foundation. You are
either arguing semantic which you are incapable of comprehending, or
just spoiling for a fight. Why pick on this poor guy?
