Thousands of flying foxes (Stupid bats) are 'boiled alive, ' freaking people out as they fall from the sky

As the Northern Hemisphere starts to thaw from a record-breaking
cold, the Southern Hemisphere is experiencing an exceptional
heat wave, causing some bats to be “boiled” alive.

According to The Sun, flying foxes (otherwise known as fruit
bats) were seen falling from trees near Sydney, Australia,
despite the best efforts of animal welfare volunteers. The
volunteers were able to save the lives of hundreds of babies and
some adults, but the loss of life was far greater.

“The efforts of our volunteers yesterday was both heroic and
heartbreaking,” a spokesman for the charity Help Save the
Wildlife and Bushlands in Campbelltown, in New South Wales, told
The Sun.

“They basically boil,” Campbelltown colony manager Kate Ryan
told the Cambelltown MacArthur Advertiser. “It affects their
brain – their brain just fries and they become incoherent.”

“In extremely trying conditions, they worked tirelessly to
provide subcutaneous fluids to the pups that could be reached
and many lives were saved. But sadly, many lives were lost too,”
he said.

Australia is experiencing a heat wave that has gone on for some
time. On Sunday, Penrith, a suburb of Sydney, reached a
temperature of just over 117 degrees Farenheit (47.3 degrees
Celsius), making it the hottest day on record in the town,
according to the New York Times.

Melbourne is also experiencing near-record temps, having reached
104 degrees Farenheit (40.1 degrees Celsius).

The heat wave, localized in three states, has caused asphalt to
melt and has been linked to bushfires and power outages
affecting approximately 400 homes. Officials have issued
emergency warnings in the Australian states of both Victoria and
South Australia.

Flyin foxes come in several flavors. They have body temps from 35C to 40C and

They can deal with air temps around 36C fine. But when the air temperature is so high their a/c units cain keep their body temps below 40C and the tend to curl
up they toes and die.

So when we hear flying foxes got knocked out of the air in a week when even
hillbillies have heard capital cities -- let alone the bush where flying foxes mostly lives -- got to 45,46,47C -- you gots to believe the 2 thingfs are

Moreover, unlike hillbillyland the Aus govt allows scientists to talk about
climate change and how it's making summers warmer.

2017 as it turns out was the 3rd-warmest year since they started keeping
good records in Aus.

(2) it's a record or nr-record summer
(3) foxes like to stay below 40C
(4) air temp even in a shaded met box got to 47C, air temps in the open
easy got to 50-60C
(5) lot of flying foxes found dead

The mass killings have tended to happen more and more often since 2000.

2016 was also a good year to find dead flying foxes around the place.

Too bad they didn't invent better a/c.

Think President Trump's popularity is falling fast? France's new
president, Emmanuel Macron, can't even give an apple to his favorite

As in the United States, France's constitution makes no mention of the
role of a president's spouse. Trying to change that as one of Macron's
first presidential actions was bound to rile public opinion. Even the
government's spokesman tweeted out, in plain French, so to speak, "No
modification of the constitution, no new funding, no salary for Brigitte
Macron. Stop the hypocrisy!"

In other words, no apple for the teacher.

Macron's first three months in office have not gone smoothly. His
defense minister, Sylvie Goulard, stepped down in June after being
accused of misusing funds to help her party. Twenty-four hours earlier,
another minister abruptly quit, under investigation for nepotism.

Macron did himself no favours when he decided not to continue the
decades-old tradition of giving a news conference on July 14, Bastille
Day, because his thoughts were too complex for journalists to
comprehend. That generated the kind of vicious headlines you – but
apparently, not Jupiter -- might expect.

Perhaps Macron's most unpopular move has been an effort to reform
France's byzantine labor code, which makes it nearly impossible to fire
or discipline workers, bypass unions, or modify pensions. Those unions,
which supported Macron against Le Pen, reacted with fury when he talked
about tinkering with the code that gives them almost unlimited power.

Proof of how seriously the unions take their privileged position: they
even got workers to turn out for demonstrations in August, when all of

The problem which I have resolved by that quote which the Australian
Newspaper unreasonably censored pertains to German Philosopher Friedrich
Hegel (August 27, 1770 – November 14, 1831) who was an important figure
of German idealism. He achieved wide renown in his day and, while
primarily influential within the continental tradition of philosophy,
has become increasingly influential in the analytic tradition as well.

Although Hegel remains a divisive figure, his canonical stature within
Western philosophy is universally recognized.

Hegel states the hypothesis: “Another and opposite folly which we meet
with in our time is that of pretending to invent and carry out political
constitutions independently of religion. The Catholic confession,
although sharing the Christian name with the Protestant, does not
concede to the State an inherent Justice and Morality, – a concession
which in the Protestant principle is fundamental. This tearing away of
the political morality of the Constitution from its natural connection,
is necessary to the genius of that religion, inasmuch as it does not
recognise Justice and Morality as independent and substantial. But thus
excluded from intrinsic worth, – torn away from their last refuge – the
sanctuary of conscience – the calm retreat where religion has its abode,

Baker said. “In 1998, a new stand and glasses were designed and
manufactured to accommodate an additional sandglass.”

John Scotus Eriugena, or Johannes Scotus Erigena (c. 815 – c. 877) was
an Irish theologian, neoplatonist philosopher, and poet. He wrote a
number of works, but is best known today for having written The Division
of Nature, which has been called the final achievement of ancient
philosophy, a work which "synthesizes the philosophical accomplishments
of fifteen centuries."

The Latin title De divisione naturae (Περί φύσεων) refers to these four
divisions of nature:
