Anything that starts "you can't compare ..." is bound to be igrunt
superstition from that lot.

Numbers like "20" are of no use to deniers. They don't understand numbers
and will try to run away anytime one it mentioned. When it comes to
"statistics" like "20 times" then you have completely lost them.

In a past century psychologists hooked subjects up to meters and
discovered that if you suddenly showed a college kid a picture of
a pouncing tiger their leg muscles would spasm slightly. This was
put down to the bodies undeniable primitive flight and fight response
in action.

When primitive man (or an outback Canadian) saw what their
primitive brain took to be a prey animal in attack mode, the conscious
part of the mind didn't stand much of a chance to prevent at least
a preliminary assessment by the automatic part of the software.

It was all down to evolutionary pressures and Darwin and that stuff
taught in big city colleges.

But never ones to sit on their asses when there was trouble to be made
for other scientists, "they" (we have their names, just in case)
hooked subjects up to meters and showed them numbers and columns of
numbers and times tables and suchlike.

Again, muscles went into preliminary "run away" mode.

Puzzle. Why the Hell is there evolutionary pressure to run away
from numbers?

After millions of years of thinking about this it seems we have
