Hola all..

Well.. I’m working out the beginning of the end.. in a story I’m
running, but I need some resource material to flesh it out..

In My Idea of the WoD, The Book of Nod really hit the nail on the head
when it came to the origin.. The Angels Et. All..

To really flavor the story for the players I’m coming up with a little
foreshadowing, a little narrative for each session.. but I really need the
names of all the angels and what their known for.. I know the resource is out
there.. but I don’t know where to find it.. In this particular case.. the
Bible really isn’t much help.. So any help that ya’ll could provide me with
would be greatly appreciated..

Well, there are only 4 mentioned in the Bible, IIRC
IIRC its Gabri-el, Micha-el, Uri-el, and Rapha-el

And I think that there's one mentioned in the Book of Morman.

I'm not familier enough with the Quran to know which angels it mentions.

Actually, I don't think Uriel is actually mentioned in the Bible, though if
someone could find him in there I'd be happy to stand corrected, and Raphael
is only in the book of Tobit, which everyone except the Catholics consider
apocryphal. The "el" suffix is important in Judeo-Christian angel lore, as
the Hebrew word usually translated as "God".

I know Moroni, Mormon's son, becomes an angel and appears to Joseph Smith to
reveal the Book of Mormon, and I think there are others but I haven't finished
it yet.

The Quran is held to have been revealed by Jibril (Gabriel), but having never
read it I have no idea how many are or are not mentioned.

The names of angels are mostly found outside the core scriptures, in the
Talmud and the Zohar and the apocryphal Gospels and all those weird esoteric
books. For someone like me who doesn't have the patience to track them all
down, I suggest "A Dictionary of Angels - including the fallen ones" by
Gustav Davidson. (1994 Free Press Simon and Schuster) I'd love to be able to
tell you the names of all the angels, but the book is 300+ pages long with
probably a couple of thousand angels with references, plus charts with
astrological correspondence and amulet invocations and secret names of God
and all that, so i can't really sum it up.

There are several books by Arthur E. Waite that be it. His material
was written in the late 1800/early 1900's and his research is part of
the basis for the Ryder-Waite tarot decks that are so popular.

"The Book of Ceremonial Magic" covers several beings, some angels,
others demons.

The Angelical Hierarchy is as follows:

It's a _great_ resource for things like that! (And not a bad read either
-- I found a nicely formatted version online at
http://www.literature.org/Works/John-Milton/paradise-lost/ which is
handy during those inevitable periods of work-avoidance :) ).

Whoa, there cowboy! That wasn't a flame in the least. I wasn't being
sarcastic, I was being self-deprecating when I said "for someone like me who
doesn't have the patience...etc". You asked where to find angel resources.
I knew that there were at max three in the Bible itself, and most of the
other resources I knew of were hyper-dense apocryphal scriptures that I know
I personally don't have the patience to plow through compiling references,
most of which quite frankly I don't own. For this reason, I was glad that
Davidson put together the Dictionary for lazy schmucks like me. I've owned
it for a while, and I use it extensively in my own games for flavor. I
neither assumed nor intended to imply there was any stupidity or laziness on
your part. I just knew how much work went into the dictionary I referred you
to and how much of a time-saver and valuable resource it was, so I thought
I'd try to help you out. I'm sorry if you took offense.

Have a nice day.

Sammael. Later known as Lucifer, Satan, Mephistopheles, Old Nick,

OK; I can understand you classifying Sammael, the Poison Angel, with
Satan--i've heard the argument before, and am willing to concede that
Sammael might = Satan, either instead of Lucifer, or just as perhaps a
differet name.

But how are you associating Mephistopheles, a demon mentioned only
once, who if memory serves, was summoned by a Frost guy, and after
giving the guy all he wanted; Meph killed him. Other then that,
there's basically no references to him, and i dont see anything
remotely pointing to him being Satan, Sammael, or Lucifer.

The 'Old Nick' thing confuses me :)

And Beelzebub, from the minimalistic research i've done into him,
seems to be a seperate entity too.

Sure, but I think there was also a tendency to simply equate all
demons with 'The Devil' for a long time, wasn't there?

They don't look quite like real science, but geography is just physics
slowed down and with a few trees stuck on it, and meteorology is full of
excitingly fashionable chaos and complexity.

Here are the names of the Seven Fallen Archangels (or archdemons, which happens
to be the same number of deadly sins, i wonder at the connection in the book i
got these from)
Belphegor (sloth)
Leviathan (envy)
Beelzebub (gluttony)
Satan (anger)
Asmodeus (lechery)
Mammon (avarice)
and
Lucifer (pride)

I got this from a fiction book "The Rise of Endymion" by Dan Simmons, but I'd
trust the info because of the amount of research into the Holy Roman Church
that is evident in the book, and it's history(namely the creation of the Fallen
Angels).

SATAN is doing his taxes. Doorbell rings.

SATAN (looks up): Hey, Belphegor, get the door!

BELPHEGOR: Nah, Letterman's coming on.

SATAN (turns): Beelzebub, you get it. Chr-r-r-rist, hurry up a bit willya.

BEELZEBUB: Mmmgff.

MAMMON: His mouth is full. And Asmodeus went upstairs with a succubus.

SATAN (exasperated): Eternal damnation to all of you. Go get it, Mammon.

MAMMON: I'll do it for a dollar.

SATAN (with a reddish glow): Lucifer. Get it now or I'll kick
your well-groomed ass all the way to the first circle.

LUCIFER (turns away): As if.

SATAN: BURN IN THE LAKE OF FIRE FOR ETERNITY! (blasts door into smithereens)

PIZZABOY: Domino's ... (vaporizes along with pizza)

LEVIATHAN: You NEVER ask me.
