Hello everyone.

I keep getting this Data File Error when I try to run Starcraft. I know the
CD is not damaged because I can play it on my friend's computer that is
running Win 95. However, mine is running Win 98 and it won't work! The
Starcraft support at Blizzard is no help it just says: "Blizzard
Entertainment is aware of certain CD-ROM issues when using Windows 98 or
Windows NT which will not allow 98 or NT to read the CD." Big help that is!
:P

Does anyone else have this problem and/or know of any way around it?

Thanks in adcance,
Kevin

Find SCW98FIX.ZIP and install it.

Replace Windows 98 cd drivers with the ones from Windows 95. Really wouldn't
which files it where, though...

When a Starcraft CD is not copied by sectors, so when the files on the Cd
are just dragged and dropped into a new CD-Project, the CD won't run under
Win98.

So buy the original ore make an exact copy of Starcraft.

I recommend buying a legal copy.

That is total BS. The problem is more than likely some Windows 98
CD drivers causing the problems. Find and install SCW98FIX.ZIP.
Worked well for me and many others (with legitimate CDs).
