If you goto Kinool Goldsinger in the Enchanters guild, Felwithe, and say "what
about the Rain Caller" he tells you that you need the following items to get
the enchanted trueshot.
1) 3000 gp
2) Faerie gold dust
3) Trueshot bow
4) Treant Heart

What is stumping me is the Faerie gold dust.

He mentions about striking a deal with the Faeries but when asked, he wont
reply to what he said in the [brackets.]
Later he mentions that the princess can enchant the dust, and I hear if
you kill her, you get "princess faerie dust" but im not sure if it is what he
requires. Does anyone know if you have to strike a deal with the princess? Or
do you just have to kill her and take her dust?

It is a long and involved quest and the reward isn't really worth it IMO;
you get a bow with the same stats as the Trueshot only range 200, plus some
side stuff: STR+6, STA+6, 5 charges of Flamestrike (a 300-pt or so Druid DD).

People on EQRangers are going ga-ga over it because of the stat bonuses;
my opinion is that I wanted a BOW and not a piece of jewelry.

Oh, and you need an item off a L40 mermaid in Kedge to finish the quest.

ANYway: killing Joleena will not get you what you want; it will probably
get you killed by Gearheart and the entire freaking Fairy town. The problem
is that there is a typo in Goldsinger's text; you need to say 'What deal with
the fairie folk' to get more info.

SPOILERS:

Joleena is PO'd because 'a giant' stole her wing. She wants it back
before she'll give anyone any Fairy Gold Dust. The 'giant' was bald and
smelled of rust and refuse, which points at Sanfyrd Feathertop in Ak'Anon
(waaay in back near the Mines of Malfunction).

He won't give up the wing because he read somewhere that it will make his
hair grow back, and he's upset 'coz he has no friends 'coz he's bald. If you
offer to be his friend he wants you to prove it by getting his hair tonic.
That's sold by a Gnome just outside the West Freeport gates. Get ten tonics
in the case Sanfyrd gives you and combine them, give the case back to
Sanfyrd...and find out he wants you to take his old toupee BACK to the guy in
WFreeport and get it fixed. To do that you need a lock of hair from the
Golden Haired Mermaid in Kedge (about L40) and two clumps of hair from Hulking
Gorillas (in Cazic-Thule). Give the wig dealer all that and the old toupee,
and you get the Mane Attraction (AC 4, +10 CHA or the like). Give that to
Sanfyrd and get the wing. Thankfully, giving the wing to Joleena gets you the
dust; on EQRangers we were expecting her to say "I'll make you the dust if you
get me a pile of gold and items A, B, C, and D found on mobs in four different
corners of Norrath". You can get the Treant Heart (called a Wooden Heart)
from the _real_ Jyle Windshot in Freeport; give him lanterns until he gives
you the Heart instead of Wood Shards. Give the Trueshot, Heart, Dust and 3000
gold to Goldsinger, and you get your Rain Caller.

Oh, it's also magical, so perhaps can hit magical mobs with normal
arrows...

So now rangers can fail to contribute meaningfully to their group by
playing archer against magic weapon only mobs, just like they can fail
to contribute meaningfully to their group by playing archer against
normal mobs with a normal bow.

Nope, you need magic arrows for that. (Mr. Hook explained on EQR that as
far as the code is concerned it's the arrow that's hitting the mob, so this is
not likely to change.)

Goto the forums at The Rangers Glade

www.soerbaird.com/ranger/

Do a search on 'Enchanted Trueshot' and select the 'Enchanted Trueshot
found thread.

This quest has been analysed to death there. Think it was bugged
originally but now is working through to completion. It looks like its
only Level 45+ that have a hope of doing it though.

Sendorni
(Level 5 Wood Elf Ranger - Erollsi Marr - who will probably tkae another
ten years till he gets near the Enchanted Trueshot !)

Using magic arrows with a non-magic bow doesn't hit magic enemies either.

Good I guess, at least against some mobs the archery uber alles
rangers out there might actually try melee and good old fashioned
taunt.

Nah, just get summoned arrows from a friendly Magician. And we're
expecting magic arrows to be added to the Fletching menu, though unfortunately
it looks like this will be another Enchanter-only item.

As for melee, I melee nearly everything I kill. Even white /con
Werewolves only get bowkited almost to death. Once in a blue moon I've had to
one-shot an insanely low green to save a newbie.

Nope you can use summoned arrows (that are classified as magical) from any
bow and they will do damage to mobs requiring magical weapons to hit.
