How's the picture compared to The Legacy Collection?
How's the sound compared to The Legacy Collection?
If I get the Japanese versions of the series, will I be missing
anything by not gettting Robotech: Remastered, such as perhaps
additional English dialogue?

An extra shot here and there. I don't have an exact count, but I'd say
well under a minute's worth per episode, in average.

Far superior.

Well...it's new, I'll give it that.
They have new 5.1 soundtracks that were seemingly mixed by a half-deaf
engineer who has no concept of subtlety. New, bright and excessively
loud sound effects fill the surrounds, drowning out the limited-range
voice track in the center channel (as does the music at times).
Overindulgent foley rattles you with bleeps and bloops and clangs for
the most insignificant onscreen activity. And the original mono mix is
not included (which would be impossible due to the extra footage).

No additional English dialogue. All the added footage does not involve
characters talking, since they were working with backups of the
original, edited voice tracks...which means not everything from the
original Japanese version has been restored. They didn't have the
actors come back in for additional dialogue.
Also of note is Remastered does not include any of the extra material
that was featured on the Legacy bonus discs.
All they had to do was replace the original footage with the remaster,
and it would've been perfect. But no... Okay, they didn't have the
original EDLs, big deal. Eyeball it. I do it all the time.
I took Robotech Remastered back to the store.
Heh.

I was wondering, since they had the actors come in to do voices for
the "Robotech: Battlecry" Nintendo 64 game.

I know. I have The Legacy Collection. I was just wondering if
Robotech: Remastered was worth getting for the extra footage, or if I
should just get the Japanese versions.

Thanks.

It should be. Amazon still has it.
If you can't find them, then you should be able to find the "Elements
of Robotechnology" discs separately. I saw some of them at Walgreens.
