One of the wonders of the television world is how The History
Channel, which so often does great things with its programming,
could stoop to such an incredible depth low as depicted in its
presentation Friday night of "The 911 Conspiracy: Fact or Fiction?"
<
It was an insult to the limited number of Americans who possess
more than average intelligence as well as, well, a rip-off sham.
<
If I didn't know any better, I'd say all of the debunkers of a Bush-
Cheney conspiratory on 911 must've slept often with Georgie and
Dickie -- and none were wearing underwear.
<
How sad!
<
With an incredible amount of physical and other evidence that
confirms,
beyond ALL reasonable doubt, that the Cheney administration -- NOT
Islamic terrorists -- were responsible for 911, the boys from Popular
Mechanics and Skeptic Magazine were at their very best debunking the
truth.
<
Obviously, the program's format suited them well.
<
Decades ago, when I first entered the newspaper business, an Old Pro
told me one of the easiest things to write is a rebuttal to a nasty
comment (say, as appeared in A Letter to the Editor).
<
He explained that, although the letter is dynamite (and true), it
almost always contains a passage that can be turned inside out.
<
So what you do . . . You ignore everything that makes sense, IS true
and can't be criticized in the letter, but pounce on the one comment
that is a bit weak.
<
You ignore everything else in the nasty letter and pounce and
direct your rebuttal a the "weak link," and the end result is that
you wind up as the hero, not the villain.
<
History Channel's format in the 911 conspiracy debate -- same as it
does with other major controversies (such as the conspiracy of JFK's
assasination), is to let the critics speak first, then assault them on
finer points.
<
Furthermore, the ciritics do not get an opportunity to respond to your
final salvo because, if permitted, they may well make you look like
an idiot.
<
James Meigs and Davin Coburn, editor-in-chief and research editor,
respectively, of Popular Mechanics as well as Michael Shermer,
pubisher of Skeptic Magazine, were identified as EXPERTS throughout
the program. (Why are THEY called experts? They're far from it)
<
I didn't see such identification for Dylan Avery of Loose Change or
author David Ray Griffin, who ARE experts in the prusuit of truth
of the 911 Nightmare, but I imagine if I looked closer I would've seen
a tiny line identifying them as retards.
<
Still, despite everything targeted to molest the truth, "The 911
Conspiracy: Fact or Fiction?" DID contain a few gems for the open-
minded and for the folks who weren't completely brainwashed
nine years ago today.
<
One came when Todd Brenner, allegedly aboard the plane that
crashed in Shanksville, miraculously got through to his mother
on his cellphone and greeted her with "Hi, Mom. This is Todd
BRENNER."
<
His mother actually admitted that these were his first words.
<
Or when Wallly Miller, the county coroner who arrived at that crash
site and soon realized it was not a passenger jet, so he might as
well go back home.
<
"I quit being the corner after 20 minutes," he remarked, explaining
that he could find no bodies or body parts on the ground."
<
Of course, Meigs was the featured conspiratorial critic and had the
audacity to make these two comments at different times.
<
"They (the conspiracy theorists) are not interested in evidence," he
said.."
<
And . . . while having the last word.
<
"If you don't care about truth or the facts, it's very, very
compelling propaganda."
