Mr. Westlake was in my top five all-time favorite writers. Probably ranks
ahead of Terry Pratchett, even. Wrote the best comic crime novels ever in my
opinion. I'm grateful he gave us so many funny, well-written, and
entertaining books. It's just gonna be weird knowing that there won't ever
be another John Dortmunder book (after the one coming out in April).

So long, Don.

Oh drat. I love Donald Westlake in all his forms. The Parker novels
are some of my most favorite books. We went to hear him do a reading
out in upstate New York, must have been somewhere around 1998. What a
genuinely nice guy.

Very sad.. and a huge loss. He was one the best contemporary writers of any
genre..

Oh, that is really sad. I love the Dortmunder books.

Did I know when I wrote my tributes to the last few Westlakes I read
last month, or was it two months ago, that I'd never read another.
Actually, I don't believe that. There are probably a couple in the
pipeline to trickle out over the next year or so. They say Mexican
food is dangerous, but not before you eat it. What a bad way to start
the year. The funny people are too rare and precious to lose. He will
be missed.
