I just read...well, about the first half of this. I usually like Tim
Minear's work but this does not read like a good movie, or a good
treatment of the book. Opinions?

If this is the one I read a few years back I recall I was a bit surprised by how the story was "Teched-up". Lots of biological implanted technology in prisoners and warders which leads to the creation of fake visual apparitions etc. Would need to read it again, but this seemed to make it stray away from RAH's story.

The link on that page does not work for me. I get a page of
Japanese characters, which with a little help from Google I can
sort of get a little understanding of. It does not seem to
have anything to do with any script about TMIAHM.

Am I doing something wrong?

Present day computer tech is more Sci-fi than that in TMIAHM's Luna..The creation of "Mike"'s Avatar in the book was a big, number crunching deal.going for conceps like VR in Minear's take would be bringing things to a futuristic level again..
Me,I can go back and re-read the book again and again.
The CG tech is here to make this movie now,the question is do we want the movie faithful to the original material,or tweaked to the point it's "based on" RAH's story..

I hope it is the former - I much prefer the director who "brings the story
to life" over the one that brings his own story.

I have heard that he is a guy who respects the source material.
