THREATS TO KEEP PEOPLE COMING TO CHURCH; WHY?
Last Sunday Melissa informed her followers that church reservations, attendance and financial support were all way down. Additionally, she announced to her attendees that she is shutting down her KU Satellite Service. Included in her message was a threat to shut the church down altogether and go strictly Internet if the current trend of ever dwindling support continued on it's downward spiral.
It's a sad day when a person running an organization such as a church has to threaten people in order to get them to show up and pay up. It's as if she is blaming everyone else except herself for the current dire situation she is witnessing each Sunday.
Melissa is using a tactic of transferring blame and responsibility from herself to other people she demands are not even members of her "church." "We have no church members here at Faith Center," Melissa claims. Her policy of "no church members" serves an important purpose; with no church members, no one can justify any desire to have a say so in how things are run. "You're not a member, there are none, and as such, you deserve no say so in how I run things" Melissa informs her followers.
As far as Melissa is concerned; they show up, they listen to her, they do as they're told, they pay up, and then they leave the building. With no members, there's no problems...and no one thinking about any annoying ideas such as "I'd like to have a little say so as to how the money I give the church is used," or maybe "I'd like to have a word in church policy and how they're arrived at and applied to the organization's activities." In legitimate churches that's called "voting members." It would appear the Melissa doesn't want any pesky "voting membership" showing up at Faith Center and undermining her "power."
That tactic, transferring blame and responsibility to others, is also called "guilting;" that is to say, use guilt heaped on other people in order to control and motivate them, and use the guilt to divert attention from Melissa's behavior to the people she looks down on from her pulpit; it's all your fault, not mine, it would seem she is telling us.
One would ask; shouldn't a church be something that people enjoy going to, and feel they did something worthwhile with their time? A place they don't have to be threatened about and have blame heaped on them from the pulpit in order to feel motivated to attend? Melissa seems to have little more to offer beyond angry threats in order to fill the seats in a building she says contains "no members of Faith Center." One wonders; is Melissa a member of Faith Center?
THE RESULTS
It would appear that fewer and fewer people believe that spending a morning at Faith Center listening to Melissa Scott is worth their time and effort, not to mention their financial support. That sentiment also appears to be growing rapidly with fewer and fewer people filling the seats each Sunday. One doubts that very many people who show up feel that they're responsible for Faith Center's diminished support as Melissa is telling them.
A LOOK AT LEADERSHIP
Melissa Scott tells us that she is in charge, she also tells her congregation that if they don't like how she runs her organization, they can get out. That's all fine and dandy, but it also places the blame for Faith Center's fading prospects solidly on her and no one else. If she is in charge, she is also responsible for the death of her organization.
Faith Center under Melissa's leadership has justifiably bought itself a reputation of abuse, deception, of constant unjust lawsuit attacks on Christians for doing nothing more than sharing Dr. Gene Scott's teaching files, which Doc made clear was legal as long as no one sold his teachings to anyone.
In all the years this writer has been a Christian, I have never personally witnessed an organization claiming to be a "Christian church" ("Christian" meaning "Christ like") that involves itself in the behavior Melissa sanctions. People who supported Faith Center, and indeed, supported Melissa herself, are abused, attacked, threatened, humiliated, intimidated and of course, attacked with illegitimate lawsuits time after time.
Where is the wisdom in creating enemies who otherwise could be your supporters? How is it "Christ like" to employ a man such as Bradley Tubin to attack the Body of Christ, your Brothers and Sisters, Faith Center; where is the Godly wisdom in such behavior? Is the use of violence next on the agenda at your organization? Some would say that has already happened.
As we have noted before; individuals are spied on, online conversations monitored, surveillance photos taken of people in public, and more. Would the Apostles of Jesus Christ, the men who wrote the New Testament, do what Melissa and her organization are doing? The answer is obvious; NO, they wouldn't, and they wouldn't be involved in the other abuse either.
One is reminded of this scripture...
"And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to SPY OUT OUR LIBERTY which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:" ... "FALSE BRETHREN...SPY OUT OUR LIBERTY...BRING US INTO BONDAGE." - Galatians 2:4 ...SOUND FAMILIAR, FAITH CENTER?
There is one thing Melissa excels at; that of creating enemies where there are none. No wonder each Sunday meeting is carefully watched over by men who keep tabs on all that happens within their gaze quietly communicating to each other with hidden radios in their ears. Watch out, someone might be here who disagrees with Melissa or would like to see transparency at faith Center (and we can't have that!), or worse; is sharing Doc's teaching files without Melissa's permission.
SPEAKING OF WHICH
Who is Melissa Scott? Where did she come from, who are her family, where did she grow up, where did she go to school, where did she get her "Ph.D." from? Questions and more questions, but no answers forthcoming. What is she hiding? We would all like to know. These are not questions prying far too much into to Melissa's personal life; on the contrary, the vast majority of us are very open about such common things with each other, but Melissa seems to believe that you have no right to even know the common basics about her past and present. What is she hiding? What Bridges has she burned she wants no one to cross?
With Dr. Gene Scott, he was an open book; we knew where he was born, where he grew up, who his mother and father were (remember beautiful Mom and Pop Scott? We sure do, and we miss them, as we miss Doc). We know where Doc attended school, and what path Doc took to his Ph.D., and his path to Faith Center being called there by God to be its Pastor. But of Melissa; we know next to nothing about Melissa with perhaps a few possible details she has tried to distance herself from. In short; who is Melissa Scott? We don't know; do you?
IMPORTANT QUESTIONS
Faith Center, it's time you begin to ask yourselves some important questions. You might want to begin by asking WHO IS MELISSA SCOTT AND WHERE DID SHE COME FROM? Why is she attacking your fellow Christians? Why is she wildly spending the money you give to her on vicious lawsuits? ...lawsuits she has lost for one reason or another for over FIVE YEARS. Also; why all the spying and surveillance on people? What does she fear? That question can be answered; she fears anyone challenging her so called "authority," anyone telling the truth, and anyone freely sharing Doc's teachings as Doc wanted.
Faith Center, do you want the church you attend to be a center of abuse and attacks on your Brothers and Sisters? IS THAT WHAT JESUS CHRIST WANTS YOUR CHURCH TO BE?
Melissa tells her followers that she is "protecting Doc's legacy"...from whom is she protecting it from, who is attacking it; people who are fulfilling Doc's wishes to see his teachings continue to be shared with new people all over the world? She is "protecting Doc's legacy" (so she tells us) from people who love and support Doc and his teachings? Where is the sense in such claims? Her efforts are madness and evil.
If there is anything about Doc's true legacy, it was the man and his lifetime of teachings; a vast goldmine of Biblical truth Doc labored to share with his students. He wanted his teaching legacy, his voice...HIS VOICE...to be COMPLETELY AVAILABLE to everyone after his passing and until Jesus returns. Melissa has seen to it, as best she can, that Doc's legacy is buried and his teachings limited to ONLY what she permits you to hear. Her efforts to diminish Doc's legacy is as clear as it can be.
Faith Center; let us say it to you this way; if you have only been exposed to the pitifully small trickle of Dr. Gene Scott's teachings Melissa permits you to hear, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE BEING HELD BACK FROM. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MELISSA IS DELIBERATELY KEEPING FROM YOUR EYES. You really don't! What moral right does she have to control the teachings of a man she couldn't even come close to being compared to?
Start asking questions, Faith Center, it's your right to do so. Don't take silence from Melissa. If she remains silent, perhaps it's time Sunday was spent elsewhere.
GOD HAS THE FINAL SAY
Melissa, a warning...
"And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it were better for him if a great millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea." - Mark 9:42
Stop attacking the Body of Christ, God's little ones, Melissa. God is watching, and you are not immune from His Word or His judgments. Your fate will not come from us, no never from us, but it will come from God, make no mistake about it.
Perhaps it's time you stop the blame game, Melissa. Perhaps it's time the threats ended. You are only draining church resources to do nothing more than continue your foolish persecution of God's Children.
