This particular entry in the timeline is incorrect:
8/25/74: Elton John returns to the site of his American premiere and plays two sets on the first of three nights at Los Angeles' Troubadour to raise money for UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute. The benefit show raises over $150,000 for the clinic, named for the licensed opthamologist who runs it (and who, not coincidentally, is head of MCA, John's label).

Actually the year was 1975, NOT 1974. It marked the USA debut of Elton's new band, just a few months after he sacked Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson.
I have the original review of the concert from Rolling Stone magazine, as well the concert program
As a matter of fact, Dee and Nigel were vexed, because, on top of being sacked, they felt they should have played with Elton at the show, as they were his original backing band at that same club during the debut which was being celebrated.
Nigel Olsson ended up attending the show as a fan, but Dee, still bitter, stayed away.
I understand EJ did a rocking version of "Street Kids" at the event. It's a shame a bootleg has never surfaced!
