If "Cali" refers to California . . . that is a state that has not yet
taken such action . . . but I can report that getting California to do
so is the highest priority of the newest member just appointed to the
Board of Advisors to the state Bureau for Private Postsecondary and
Vocational Education.
(That would be me. Go Arnold.)

Bear also left off the fact that he listed the names and addresses of
known mills for years, only stopping when a lawyer told him he might be
held financially responsible for the results, and then he dropped them.
As he stopped milling the degrees when contacted by some states
attorneys general telling him that milling was a no /no. Nothing like
having an experienced man on the job.
Bear knows where the bodies are buried and will not have any trouble
getting BPPVE to uncover them.
WASC and BPPVE are poised to kick them both out of the state. When
that happens the other shoe will fall, as NCACS will no longer be able
to ignore the scandal and will be forced to act. Hecht is not worried,
as he has been stashing cash overseas for some time in anticipation of
just such an event.
So long NCU.
Now that SACS has lowered the boom on AICU for its problems (\"program
content, full-time faculty, integrity of students\' academic records,
and admissions policies, as well as noncompliance with standards such
as governance, and administrative structure, and institutional
effectiveness\") it\'s just a matter time before WASC clamps down on
NCU for the very same reasons. They are playing a shell game to
confuse the regulators.
Good to see that Bear now has an interest in state approval, AGAIN.
Maybe he will make another sharp left or right and begin saying that
state approval means something. Up till about 2001 he said it meant
something and then from 2001 to 2005 he dismissed it. It will mostly
depend on how and when his bread gets buttered. Since he is in bed
with BPPVE he should, if history holds true, begin to hype what he is
doing and how good it is. Now if only someone would pay him an obscene
amount of money to preside over another unaccredited school it would be
back to "they are a decent choice." $$$$$, publicity, and implied
power, are his favorite subjects. Aaaah, vanity and ego, and the love
of money, how they betray us.
Is Bear really the shallow, two-faced phony that he comes across as?
You just know that he is going to do 180-degree turn and again embrace
state-approval (California, of course, maybe Oregon in deference to
Contreras and wherever Rich Douglas manages to get a state appointment)
as an endorsement just shy of accreditation. This whole situation is
bizarre but really suprising when you consider the enormous egos and
lack of ethical values of the parties involved.
The distance education field is filled with some of the most
egotistical self-promoters found anywhere. If Bear has the opportunity,
he will attempt to get his DI pals into similar positions in other
states. Wouldn't it be just great for distance education if Uncle Janko
could get a paying gig on a Michigan board where his 'expertise' would
actually have an impact on public policy? Imagine if any of these other
DI imbeciles' rants actually had an outlet other than DI? That is one
scary thought.
Most shills are fools or ignorant and sometimes both, but the Bear, now
that is a completely different breed of cat, he likes the chase. Play
the game with him and you'll lose your britches.
