http://jeannedecarolis.com/day5.jpg - nothing fancy, a photo I took with the
artist's name. Album cover.
http://jeannedecarolis.com/day6.jpg - if anything, I'm finding a direction to
head with my new site. That's my camera, it was my grandfathers and if I can
find film for it, it'll still work. Takes great photos. That's one of my photos
in the background, thought I could change background photos easily with this
design. I've had toto think of those things in the past.
http://jeannedecarolis.com/day7.jpg - instead of Macy's, I choose Stacy's. My
photo again, given a PS treatment. Shopping bag.
Hope everyone is still having fun!

Teabag design - kind of busy now that I've been away from it. Oh well. It's fun
to work with textures.

and your gradfather's camera looks very good to me. I'm in love with old
camera, and I own one it was my grandfathers too. I haven't switched to
digital yet and I use my glorious Contax 139 quartz with Zeiss and Vivitar
lenses: Zeiss 50 mm., Vivitar 28mm., Vivitar 1 series tele zoom 70-210.
cheers and long life to diapos!

I know what you mean about high and low points, though.....it's been
interesting
Sometimes I get sketching as fast as the Wacom will permit, and other days
I sit here staring at the screen praying for an idea.
Maybe I'm just strange but the things I have been creating
are 180 degrees different from what I think of as "the stuff I do for work"
(practical,
useful images) and are just feelings --even the stuff that is
representational
rather than abstract--- I did half a dozen variants on Nautile (which
started out
as a sketch of a chambered nautilus and then I went in another direction)
and I ended up "keeping" the one that looks sort of deco/nouveau
The latest work came about because someone asked me how I paint hair,
and in the process of documenting the technique, the beginnings of the
red-haired child
emerged--- so I just finished it. I'm not sure I'm thrilled by the pink, in
retrospect,
but it seemed appropriate for the subject at the time.
I can't wait to see all the "stuff" at the end....

I remember that! This is the very essence of the 14 day exercise. The first
few days were relatively easy because there was a backlog of things I'd been
meaning to try. After that I was forced to stretch. I invariably produced
something that I could never have envisioned beforehand because I was in
uncharted territory.
On some days I would produce pieces, seemingly out of nowhere, that would
floor me. In a normal situation, I'm done! There's no way I can top that!
Excellent! Frame it! Get on with the rest of my life! But I had several days
left and I had made a commitment to go all 14 days. So I started anew the
next day and the next and LO! Another wonderful piece gets created that
never would have existed had I stopped working when I thought I should.
It's a fantastic way to work for short periods of time.

Oh? Really? Good! Do me a favor and critique my 14 Days main page,
will ya, please? <http://www.well.com/user/silly/day0.html>
I'm still making revisions to it. Made some revisions today.
Eventually I'll probably add CSS. Anyway, the code is W3C compliant.

Wow. You took that picture of David Bowie, Jeanne? It's fantastic.
You should make it clear that you took the picture. Is the album
cover a fake? If so, the fake album cover actually diminishes the
impact of what you have on display. If you took the picture, let us
know that its yours. Create a day5.html page to present your photo.
Include pertinent text info on the day5.html page. If your photo was
used on the cover of a Bowie album, for example, mention this fact.

Day 07 <http://www.well.com/user/silly/day7.html> 14 Days of Art
I rarely like my stuff and I think that's a good thing, I'm always looking to
improve. They day I'm satisfied is the day I'm in trouble.
<< Jeanne, I LOVE your day 6 web design. >>
thanks! I almost like it too!
David is the MAN! Thank you. The concert was great.
<< If so, the fake album cover actually diminishes the
impact of what you have on display. >>
They're all fakes, it's an exercise and yes, I'll be presenting in a more
presentable fashion at day 14.
<< Maybe I'm just strange but the things I have been creating
are 180 degrees different from what I think of as "the stuff I do for work" >>
Me too - this is why I'm taking part in the exercise.
<< The latest work came about because someone asked me how I paint hair, and in
the process of documenting the technique, >>
That's interesting, I love detail and seeing how other artists go about their
craft.
Oh the teabag thing. I may scan in a pencil illustration I did years ago
showing how to use tea leaf steeper. Thanks.
Jeanne
<< And my 3rd leaves much to be desired. It just sits there:
http://wehosttheworld.com/~sadeyes/illustrations/14days/day3.html >>
That's nice! Reminds me of the movie I watched last night, Enemy of the State.
You could build further on that piece. I did a rooster drawing that I wasn't
crazy about but kept at it and it turned out OK. This is one reason why I
prefer digital art over traditional. Reworking images is so much easier and
faster.

Thanks for peeking, but I was hoping for a critique of day0.html
itself, not the other seven pages.
> I like the toon guy you have on the sito site a lot. How about
> including a noncollaborative toon in your 14 days?
Yes, the ultimate goal is noncollaborative toons. The first
transitional step would be noncollaborative doodles--just line
drawings with no caption and not a whole lot of structure.
Will I get around to doodling on the WACOM tablet within the next
seven days? I hope so. However, I've been uploading SITO
Gridcosm stuff daily because I think doing something is better than
than nothing. The whole point of this exercise is to do something
every day. Although I'm disappointed that I'm not doodling, I'm glad
to be uploading something every day.
I've been doing the SITO Gridcosm thing for a little over three
years, so I am very anxious to move on.
