Hoping to get some PALS interested in joining us here. With the loss of
Prodigy Bulletin Boeards we need to find a place to share ideas and just
generally talk about Print Artist, and also computer crafts.
Anyone interested please post a note and lets see if we can get this
newsgroup going!!

I do scan alot of things. Don't have any realy secrets tho. I just do
it. I scan everything into Paint Shop Pro. I scan at about 160 dpi and
clean up things or fiddle with the gamma correct or brightness and when
I am all done then I save it as a jpg. If I open it up and make changes
I find that I loose alot of clarity. If you go to the COmputer BB and
ask there I know you will get some good advice. Arlene there does this
for a living and she is GOOD! She is very helpful too.
What program do you use to scan into?

Jenni, there is also a place on the net called Delphi, which is sponsored by
another on
line service, but costs nothing, but you do have to sign up and become a
member and then you can set up your own bulletin board. Maybe that is
something to be considered too.

No you do not have to be on Prodigy to get the newsgroups. You can get
to them with ANY internet access. What browser are you using? I use
netscape. There is a place here for options, and I check 'show only
unread messages' That way I see only the new messages and not every
single one that has ever been written. Newsgroups are not exclusive to
prodigy. I hope you figure it out and find it easy to use. It really is
once you get it to show just unread messages.
Don't give up,please.........

Hi, Jenni. This is only the second time I've tried to read these boards
and find them very difficult to follow both times. The first time was
quiet sometime ago and they do not seem to have improved since my last
time here. This is just too ardious and time consuming a task, rather
than being enjoyable as were our wonderful Prodigy BB's. I sure do not
want loose touch with all you wonderful pals but I'm hoping to find an
easier way to keep in touch. I'm glad you are trying to help with this.
At least you have provided a meeting place. If you have any tips on
getting through these messages, I sure would like to hear them. This
just takes toooooooo long. It appears that you have to be on Prodigy in
order to use this board, it that true. If so, I won't be able to get on
here because after all these many years I've had Prodigy, I will drop it
when the lights go out on the BB's. Thanks for the effort to keep us

found out what is wrong but don't know who to ask that would know. I'm
a software junkie too. But it's fun most of the time. Do not have
Complete Publisher so can't offer any help or tips there. I've had Draw
6 for several months and have not yet made a single card in it. It's
just been so much easier to zip into PA to make a card. As soon as I get

card from last year....and your "any card" swap card....with the baby

Minimize the news group window...just have a regular internet page on

Latest update on the Phx convention:
The Transportation & Travel Team added some information to
their page (99pals04.htm) regarding shuttle service from
the airport to the hotel.
Since we've had some questions regarding photos of yourself
being used on Calling Cards and Nametags, we've tried to
clear up that confusion on the Design Contest page

Prodigy too and I think I remember sending your grandmother a card one time.
She had a birthday and you couldn't be there so a lot of the PALS sent
cards. Getting back to dear old Prodigy, I did see some notes from Eva
Barham saying that they are really looking for a net-based bulletin board
system for Prodigy Internet, as a possible addition to the message boards
currently available. I see this as a ray of hope so I'm not giving up yet.
Meantime, I'm happy to see this newsgroup.

used to on Classic but better than the Excite boards now available. I
understand they are considering something like the Ultimatebb or Delphi
boards. I haven't looked at them yet so I'm not sure how good they are but
I'm still hoping for something. I kind of prefer the closed community
feeling of something exclusive to Prodigy rather than a newsgroup but I'll
take what I can get. <g>

Fancy meeting you here!! Now we need to get the rest of the 'round robin

Ruth, thanks for your offer to help. I went to the Web on AOL and PI
trying to find newsgroups to enter this newsgroup address but couldn't
find where they "hide" newsgroups. I did a search and found notes that
we have posted here but the notes were only from those that were probably
posted as a public note as I do. Found Judy Crandall's notes on all my
search's and can't remember who else's at the moment but notes from most
all that are presently posting were there. And, it was not in an easy to
read format as here. So if you can help me find the correct spot to find
newgroups that would be great. I'm working with no menu features; I only
have the buttons on the right of the read and post screen. I'm going to
follow Barbara's instructions to bring up the menus once I know how to
find newsgroups on Netscape screen. Again, thank Ruth for your offer.

Penny, you have to find Draw 6 on sale. I think the regular price is
around 49.95, but I've seldom ever saw it at that price, usually has at
least a 10 to $20 rebate. I've learned to be patient when buying
software as you can really get a lot of money off it. Compusa has
CreatCard Gold 3 on sale this week, plus another $10 instant store rebate,
and then American Greetings rebate of $10 making my final cost $4.99. I
just took a quick look at it but the graphics look really good. I never
use those programs to make cards, but just use the graphics in PA. I had
retired in '97 but got lured back into working. I don't want to do that
any more so I'm out there in late spring. I know about how quickly your
time can be eaten up. My DH loves to get out and about a lot so he
planned so many day trips, mini vacations and vacations that all my time
was gone. <VBG> Doesn't he know I need to be in front of my computer!
<LOL> Back to Draw 6, you should be able to find it on sale if you are
patient. Wanda M

If all else fails, you can always do Open, and type in
news:alt.crafts.print-artist and that should open up your news reader.

If even *THAT* doesn't work, all newsgroups can be read in

Barbara & Wanda M:
As I said, I'm new at Newsgroups and I don't have MSIE or Netscape, but
rather am using AOL access without a newsreader. But, if you'll use Keyword
and type in Newsgroups it will open a window for Internet Newsgroups which will
have several Icons to choose from. Click on Add Newsgroups and it will bring
up an alphabetical list of them. First one is ALT so click on that and you'll
see 5 that begin with alt, including this one. Click on it, and it will open
one of the letters, go to bottom of screen and click on List All, and you'll
then see a list of all letters that have been posted in the past 14 days. You
can set up different things in preferences and also subscribe to any Newsgroup
from that original screen too. Not sure what you mean about 'only one note at
a time'...you do have to open each note, but can see who they're from and date
sent when you click on 'list'. I'm sure y'all can probably tell me a lot more
about Newsgroups, and newsreaders but this is how I subscribe to them on AOL.

Wanda,

Once I read a message it is gone UNLESS I click under the little green
dot beside the note....this makes the green dot appear beside the note
and renders the message unread. Another way is to click on "message"

Barbara, believe it or not but of the over 2000 none of them are titled
birthday verses....I guess they are more like sayings you could use on
magnets etc. Here's the only one that's a Get Well verse
Ugly person on front (jpg)
inside: Are you going to get better or do I have to get ugly
I will look at the "quotes" and see what I can come up with. After I got
AZZ I started importing all my quotes, verses and sayings crd files into the
one file so I'm sure there are more, it will just take me a little while to
find them.
(you sent me an e-mail but I thought I'd post the what ever ones I find on
the newsgroup).
You asked how I collected so many....some I did and most of them came from
contributions from the bb and Maggie Martin started a collection of them and
distributed them to those who wanted them.

Betty, the AZZ cardfile is similar to the cardfile program that came with
Win 3.1 and that many of us continued to use when we got Win 95 but we had
to install it because MS didn't include it! Anyway if you're familiar with
cardfile, you know that there are limitations on how much information you
can put on one card. In AZZ it's limitless. You can import your files from
Cardfile. I only started using it last week, so I'm not an expert at it but
it is certainly more versatile than cardfile and I also understand that you
can import txt files into it but I haven't tried it yet. It's shareware and
if you don't register it, a reminder window pops up quite frequently. It
only costs $12.00 to register and is well worth it. You can read about and
d/l the program at http://www2.omnitel.net/zdramys/azzcardfile/

Wanda, I get a little frustrated, too that my mail is gone in an instant and
then I read something later on the list that answer me. The only solution
there really is to this is just log on and d/l your mail and newsgroups and
log off and write off line in Outlook Express...that's like bbnm. I'm
assuming that can be done in Netscape, too. Then they don't upload until
you log on again. I think we get in the habit of staying on line when we
really don't have to.

Eat lots of Chocolate.

Chocolate is nature's way of making up for Mondays.

If you have chocolate on your breath, people are more apt to

There is more to life than chocolate, but not right now.

If people see you eating chocolate, they will feel it's all

A Candy Bar may be the only thing you do right today.
The worst chocolate beats the very best fruit salad.

Even the Beatles wrote a song about chocolate. It's not a

There's nothing wrong with me that a little chocolate won't

Hello All,

The newsgroup here is a usenet newsgroup. It is internet specific
unless there is a local server that stores the newsgroups that you
could dial into.

You can get to usenet newsgroups through an Internet Service Provider

Local BBS's have declined since the rise of the net and the ones still
around don't have the space to hold the thousands and thousands of
newsgroups!

I've been using Print Artist since it's inception and it is one of my
favorite programs!

If you live in a very major metropolitan area (NY, LA, etc) there
might be someplace to dial into to get the newsgroupls locally -

Hope this bit of info helps
