... the right-wing British satirist who died last week, and who, as
"Peter Simple", wrote the Daily Telegraph's "Way Of The World" column
for decades. Wharton is probably best remembered for the host of
fictional characters through which he lampooned the
politically-correct, socialist-inclined British establishment of the
post-war period.

Readers may care to hear one or two further comments occasioned by the
late news.

Colonel Horace J Blitzenburger, whose own no-nonsense opinions have
helped immeasurably to fortify us during the War On Terror, expressed
his sympathies. "This Brit was a real solid guy ..... even if he was a
kike", the Colonel commiserated. "Malcolm Warton will be sorely
missed."

But Scot McKellan, spokesman for the People's Government of George W
Bush, demurred. "Wharton was a vigorous and dedicated agent of
imperialist tyranny", McKellan said. "His loss can only be the world
proletariat's gain."

Evidence, surely, that "Lord Peter" continues to provoke controversy in
death as in life.

Starting a stampede of two at least in the desperate attempt to reach
the exits.
