That have been my politic for several years too, but it's not for me,
but one of my friends, that have a problem (a MSI motherboard with some
missing SM-bus driver). He hope such a program can help... :)

The last time I used a generic driver updated it went through my
system and then checked the driver vendors for more recent drivers. It
found some and told me what I needed but then it wanted to charge for
each driver! I declined.

MSI have an online auto update for their motherboards & it's brilliant. I used it for several years.

I needed to update my graphics card driver recently. If it ain't broke
don't fix it is good advice, but sometimes it is
beneficial/necessary...so answers as such are not helpful.

If IRC, DriverMax may charge for the download, but it gives you an idea
of what updates are available. Most of the time, I will go to the vendor
website and get the download. Windows will automatically find and update
the drive for you much of the time also. Go to device manager, find your
device and double-click on it and the properties window will open. There
you have a choice to allow windows to find and update the drive for your
system. This is how I updated my graphics card driver and it worked well.

I'd start on MSI's website and d/l install every driver they have for
the board. IIRC, I had a problem with one of those on a MSI board
(last MSI board I'll *ever* purchase) and ended up reinstalling sata
drivers fixed it.

best of luck
