by Saint Aidan of Lindisfarne

Born in Northumbria, England; died c. 657. Saint Hieu received the veil
from Saint Aidan, who appointed her abbess of Tadcaster abbey in
Yorkshire. Some believe that Saint Hieu is identical to Saint Bega
(Benedictines).
