That's not how science works. No scientific theory is ever proved, scientists build theories to explain measured realities, and other scientists try to disprove them.

Any or all of the above theories might eventually fall, but that doesn't make them hoaxes.

It mostly means a better explanation has come along.

There is a global conspiracy. There is a shadow government that likes to keep people in the dark and maybe make a fool of the public. Scientists are not free to pursue the truth, but are controlled by the shadow.

Most science is probably true, and is responsible for raising quality of life. By true, I mean the theory works in the world. By works, I mean, it is a predictive model of the world.

Quarks cannot be detected in isolation. There is no evidence for string theory. The Higgs Boson is nonsense.

Have you verified the experimental apparatus and empirical data that support your claims? Or do you just blindly believe scientists or the media?

Most of science that is claimed to work does work. But we should remove the fake science that doesn't work.

Applied science results in technological innovations, that improve our leisure quality and work productivity. I am pro-science, but science is imperfect, like most human creations.

If particle Physics conformed to common sense, we'd all be doing it.

But why should it? Common sense developed to understand the mesoscopic world of everyday existence. Not the very large, or the very small.

So why should the sub-atomic world even find metaphors in the common sense world?

That is due to quark confinement. Suppose, for example, one tried to separate the quark pair that comprises a pion. The energy one would have to put into the task is enough to cause another quark pair to come into existence. Quarks started out theoretical back in the early 60s. They were introduced to make sense of the quantum numbers that characterize some of the exotic particles that had been discovered in the late 50s. By the late 60s there was direct experimental evidence from experiments that studied the scattering of very high energy electrons of of nucleons. The only way to make sense of the observed scattering angles was to postulate point like regions of charge within the protons and neutrons, i.e. quarks.

There is no evidence for string theory.

Unlike the rest of your drivel, I agree with this statement. String theory is very speculative. But in the absence of empirical data, what can they do but speculate? I will be very skeptical of string theory until there is verification or at least a massive theoretical clarification that makes sense.

The Higgs Boson is nonsense.

If it looks like a Higgs, walks like a Higgs, and quacks like a Higgs, it is a Higgs. The CERN data very closely matches the theoretical predictions. Since you reject the Higgs mechanism, do tell me YOUR theory that explains why the quanta of the electron field (i.e. electrons) have rest mass. Be sure to give full mathematical detail and a detailed comparison of your theory with experimental data.

Do you have faith in other scientists, and the journals they publish their results in? Have you personally verified the experimental apparatus and the experimental data?

I suspect that you have faith in scientists, just like some theists have faith in their priests. I have personal knowledge of the three hoaxes in physics. No high priest of physics can convince me otherwise.

Physics serves a useful role in society, but that doesn't mean that they are perfect. Physics has been corrupted, and needs to be cleansed, if physicists want to regain the trust of the people.

So, many atheists have faith in science. And many theists have faith in religion. But the scientific process is operated by scientists, hence many atheists also may have faith in scientists.

To function in society, you need to have some faith in human institutions. That trust has declined recently.

So one has no choice but to have faith in other scientists, to do science. However, there is a balance between trust and scepticism.

If people are trustworthy, then faith is justified. Now you see why truth is so important?

Why don't you tell us how you came to have inside info and "personal knowledge" of these hoaxes? Snicker. How could string theory be a hoax? Nobody claims experimental verification. String theory is speculative math that attempts to find a way to unify gravity with the other forces of nature. As for quarks, well it is quite a sustained hoax dating back to the 1960s and scientists from dozens of countries must be in on it. Quite a feat to pull off a conspiracy that big. More impressive a feat than experimentally detecting quarks in the first place. My hat is off to the conspiritors.

It is very sad that a huge percentage of people use the internet and social media to pursue antiscientific drivel. All the world's wisdom and knowledge is only a mouse click away. Relativity seems that way when you first learn it, but even general as well as special relativity can be gotten used to. But quantum stuff is just eerie. Even when the math is fairly simple it can be hard to wrap your mind around. I sometimes think our brains simply aren't wired to conceptualize the strange reality described by the mathematics of quantum theory.

I think Malcolm meant not that scientists must directly collaborate, but that they rely on the rest of the scientific community. Einstein was a brilliant guy, but he couldn't invent everything or check everything. He had to trust the experimentalists when they confirmed the validity of, for example, Maxwell's equations. Even in math one must use theorems whose proof one has not personally checked. There isn't time enough to check everything.

I think the word "baggage" is a bit harsh. Galilean relativity was a brilliant theory. I can't really fault scientists before Einstein for thinking it accurately described the world.

No, no, Galileo was the first crack in the absolutist dam.
Galileo's principle of relativity states "It is impossible
by mechanical means to say whether we are moving or staying
at rest".

Einstein simply explained how that happened in practice:
Space-time itself changes to ensure the rate of information
exchange remains a constant, c.

Galilean Relativity is that two inertial frames observing each
other will measure the same durations, lengths, weights in each
frame as the same and measured speed of light will differ by the
speed difference. Special Relativity assumes the measured speed
of light will be constant with conservation of momentum and
energy which requires measurements of durations, lengths, and
weights to differ.

Galileo was a vast improvement on Archimedes because Archimedes
pontificated while Galileo experimented. But Galileo had neither
the math or experience to go further. Newton had better math but
still not good enough.

I don't think the issue was math. Most of special relativity does not require math that was unavailable to Newton. General relativity certainly does, but not special. Newton would have had no reason to doubt that Galilean relativity was correct. Maxwell's electromagnetic theory was unavailable to him. Nobody had the slightest problem with Galilean relativity until it was observed that Maxwell's equations are mathematically incompatible with the Galilei transformations.

This was why they came up with the ether theory. (By the way, we should not look down on 19th century scientists for believing in the ether. Their rationale was sound enough, just wrong.) The ether accomplished two things. First, they had figured out that light is EM waves and they were unhappy thinking of a wave as a mathematical abstraction. They wanted a mechanical conception of waves and they thought a wave should have a material medium through which to propagate. Hence the ether, a mysterious "substance" that fills the universe and transmits EM waves, but interacts with nothing else. They also thought the ether theory would explain why Galilean relativity did not work for electromagnetism. They supposed that the universe has a privileged frame of reference in which the ether is stationary. In that frame the Maxwell equations are exactly valid. The high accuracy of the Maxwell theory we observe in the lab would follow if the speed of the earth through the ether is small compared to the speed of light.

Einstein was not satisfied with the idea that relativity did not apply to EM theory. We observe EM phenomena that are relative all the time. He pointed out that of one moves a magnet past a conductor, the time changing magnetic field causes an electric field, and therefore a current, to pop into existence in the conductor in accordance with Faraday's law. But one gets the identical current in the conductor if one holds the magnet still and moves the conductor. Clearly on the relative motion is relevant here. Einstein concluded that a properly formulated theory of relativity MUST apply to electromagnetism as well as mechanical phenomena. Then he put together special relativity with the help of some math that had been worked out by Lorentz and Fitzgerald and others. Poincare was also on track to develop SR, but Einstein got there first.

Who but Einstein would have had the intellectual courage to explore the possibility that Maxwell's equations were more exactly accurate than Newtonian mechanics?

Newton co-invented calculus. Special relativity, since it
does not deal with acceleration, can be treated entirely
with trig and algebra.

Newton did not know non-Euclidean geometry. Neither did Leibniz
but he still had doubts about assuming a universal Euclidean
geometry.

OK. But non-Euclidean geometry has nothing to do with the basics of SR. GR certainly, not SR. In the absence of gravitation, spacetime is flat.

Nothing is perfect, but science corrects its errors when they are found.

What has been found that demonstrates those hoaxes?

What do you think the reason or reasons for such hoaxes would be?

How could they be kept secret from the rest of the world's scientists and why?

If you are convinced that these hoaxes exist, convince us with the evidence and explain how they debunk whatever you think has been lied about.

If you can't, then don't blame people here for thinking you're a bit of a loon.

Yes, and you can't see electrons, but you use it as electricity without even uttering a word???????????????

But string theory is not a theory, just a speculation!!!!!!!!!!
