One of the odd things I've always noticed about Muslims is their
smugness. With most of the Christians I send into a blather (even the
Fundies), there's a sound of panic about them-almost as if their
doubts are surfacing right that very moment.
The Muzzies are different. All I've ever gotten from them is pious
rage (and the usual "we'll kill you ALL!" crap). Often their first
reply to me is a cut-&-paste thing against Christianity. My reply
(paraphrased), "..fuck Christianity. It's a lie, too." Their second
reply? Calling me a Jew. Mine (again, paraphrased..), "..fuck Judaism.
It's a lie, too." Their third? "..so what God do you serve?"
It takes about five posts back and forth before I can get it through
their thick skulls that I don't believe *any* gods exist at all. It's
like a completely alien concept to them. And then the rage.."how DARE
you!!! Allah will have your balls for breakfast!! (or some such rot)"
Perhaps it's because Islam is a younger mythology than so many others?
Because it has yet to suffer the inter-sect calamities that weakened
Christianity, or the persecution from outsiders that weakened Judaism?
I really don't know.
All I do know is that whatever makes Islam different from the older,
dying versions of the Abrahamic myth also makes it *dangerous*.
If defending modern humanity against Christianity of Judaism was like
wrestling an old man, then defending it against Islam is like being
confronted with a teenager on a PCP trip.

I was watching some Muslim protestors on TV yesterday, protesting about the
visit of a dutch (anti-Islam) politician to the UK.
Initially barred from entering the UK, he appealed and won the right to come
hear to discuss his anti-Islamic views.
The protestors outside were howling with fury.

Exactly. You will not find notions of freedom and democracy in the
Bible, only talk of Kings, Lords and commandments. Religious leaders
never advocated democracy - quite the reverse, they supported the
divine rights of Kings. Rule by religion.
Democracy is not a Christian idea.
Whenever did the catholics ever elect its Bishop's
and Cardinals? This is a strictly anti-democratic organisation
that supported faschists like Franco and Mussolini. An organisation
which claims to have been founded by one Jesus son
of Joseph. The similar Orthodox Church in Russia supported the Tsar
against the peasants and former serfs.
You will not find trial by Jury advocated in the Bible either
only arbitary decisions by rulers claiming divine right to
rule. You will not find a presumption of innocence until
proven guilty in the Bible either only stone throwing mobs.
No right of defence there. No rights of trail by jury
from the Inquisition either.
Our system of justice, the greatest and fairest in the world is
not a Christian idea. It is an Anglo-Saxon notion and probably
the greatest contribution the English speaking peoples
have ever given to the world.
You will not find freedom of conscience or speech
advocated in the Bible.
Christianity is against such ideas. Only bigots and

Two weeks ago I attended a fundraiser by the Congolese Association,
the situation in the Congo is dire, and has been since the Colonial
era.. there was music and drama.. all held in a Uniting Church

BTW I am not involved with either of those two groups, the daughter
