ok when I try to install the duplicity package from the web interface there's an error, but I can't read what it is.

then when I try and run duplicity from the command line, I get

[root@DNS-323]# duplicity
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/duplicity", line 34, in <module>
    from lockfile import FileLock
ImportError: No module named lockfile

any ideas?

thanks

Richard

uninstall it and retry from the command line using 'ipkg install duplicity'. Post the full install messages. Without knowing what the error is we can't fix it.

As the error seems to come from python, extension lockfile, try also 'pip list'. On my system I get:
boto (2.38.0)
Cheetah (2.4.4)
dropbox (2.2.0)
duplicity (0.6.25)
ecdsa (0.13)
elementtree (1.2.6.post20050316)
gdata (2.0.18)
lockfile (0.10.2)
paramiko (1.15.2)
pip (6.1.1)
pycrypto (2.6.1)
pyOpenSSL (0.11)
setuptools (15.2)
urllib3 (1.11)
yenc (0.3)

ok I tried it on the command line and it worked perfectly. :-) thanks
for the help!

Only thing is I think the verison of duplicity that's installed isn't
recent enough for PyDrive, which is now needed to use duplicity with
Google Drive. Also, I have a LOT of data and I think that if I use
duplicity for backup and then need to restore a file, it will be
prohibitively slow.

So I've decided to add a Raspberry Pi to my LAN and backup the DNS323
to Google Drive using fuse, over samba.

thanks again

I also have a strange problem with duplicity - restore does not work, as it complains some of the files of full backup are corrupted (hash of the file does not match the hash declared in the manifest file).
Anyone knows if there is a way to skip corrupted files?
