Rescently, I have a package update the kennel-modules 2.6.35. 14-4. After reboot, I notice the hard drive is going through the volume check(something like that).  I cannot do the update or install anymore!  The error messge in in the attach file.

Probably a transient error in sourceforge.net, try again in a couple of minutes or hours.
Try visiting it using your browser  https://sourceforge.net/projects/alt-f/files/pkgs/unstable/  (your browser will probably use a "mirror")

Does the box has internet connectivity? What does

ping -c 3 sourceforge.net

prints?

I can ping sourceforge.net.  BTW there is not -c option for windows.
The box is always on the network with internet.
I have even changed the ip to DHCP(static originally)
Is it possible to down the files from the sourceforge.net and have the nas point to the location at this moment?

I mean to ping from the box, after ssh/telnet it and login as user 'root':

Is the gateway and name server correct in the Setup->Host page?
I still think that there exists a connectivity problem from the to the exterior of your lan.
Anyway the above 'ping' from within the box will uncover this.

If the ping works, please try the following commands

ipkg update

Yes, but I would prefer to know what the problem is and solve it, instead of taking shortcuts.

You can download the files directly to the box and install/update from the command line. An example:

cd /tmp
ipkg install uemacs # install uemacs
ipgs remove uemacs # remove uemacs
rm uemacs_4.0.15-lt-2_arm.ipk # delete the downloaded package file

Setup->Host everything seems just fine (to me): I use DHCP.
Host IP (statically assigned by my router), net mask, gateway - all good.
name server is set to my router's IP which runs dnsmasq.

For what it's worth, I use OpenDNS' not my ISP's DNS servers. This is configured in my router.

You are right, remove the "stable" feed

from the feeds list in Alt-F Package Manager web page.
Just clear (remove all text from)  the entry field and hit the ChangeFeed buttom.

The "stable" feed is empty/non-existent anyway, so no harm.

[added: I think that the reason for this happening now is that sourceforge has removed all empty files, and the Packages index in the stable feed is empty.]

Thanks,
Joao

I just experienced the same problem and doing this fixed it. Thanks a lot; Joao.
