Hello,

I am planning to buy a DNS-320L (because Alt-F exists), and I have a few questions:
- Does the DNS-320L have bad hardware, or are all problems I read about in reviews related to the stock firmware?
- Does the fan work well after using Alt-F? How are the noise levels? Do I have to replace the fan as I have read in some reviews?
- Are there known issues with DNS-320L and Alt-F?

Thanks!

In my opinion it has a bad thermal and mechanical design.

specifically?

Yes, always off, slow, fast or automatic modes, with off/slow/fast adjustable trip points, adjustable trip point hysteresis...

How are the noise levels?

lousy

It depends on your ambient temperature, disks generated heat, if you have the box in your bedroom...

Hello

As an owner of a Dns-320L and having initially a lot of problems with it, I can only mention that the last months, it is running smoothly the Alt-F firmware. It turns on and off when I want and I do have ssh access always. While in the past for some kind of strange problem, (probably a Nand memory problem, seek this forum) this was not always possible.

One thing, the fan. Yes it is very noisy, and during this hot summer, it is almost constantly on, at medium level. But it is definitely too noisy.

@João @Erik Thanks for the information!

I am looking for a silent, stable NAS, so maybe I should look for an alternative to the DNS-320L.
I d love to use Alt-F though.
