Has anyone been able to get SNMP monitoring functioning on the DNS-323 and have it successfully being monitored using a SNMP monitoring program?
I'm currently running: Alt-F 0.1RC4.1 on a DNS-323-B1.

I configured my snmp configuration file as:

[root@dns323]# more /Alt-F/etc/snmp/snmpd_dm.conf
rocommunity     public
syslocation     DNS-323
syscontact      "d...@na.com"
[root@dns323]#

When I did a SNMP walk, I can see that my snmpd is running and from the looks of the output file, it looks ilke it should function.

[root@dns323]# snmpwalk -v2c -c public localhost 2>/dev/null

Before using Alt-F, I had used the stock DNS-323 firmware, installed FunPlug 0.7 and used the instructions at http://bernaerts.dyndns.org/nas/72-dns-323-ffp07/317-dns323-ffp7-supervise-snmp-agent to get SNMP functioning. I was monitoring my DNS-323 using zenoss. I made no change to my zenoss configuration, flashed the DNS-323 to Alt-F, configured my static IP address of the DNS-323, etc.  So, from the PC I'm using to run zenoss, I can see that the DNS-323 is up and I can ping it. The issue is that SNMP appears to be down on the DNS-323 but as indicated above, it isn't. I suspect that there is an issue with accessing port 161, but, since I don't have iptables installed, I shouldn't have a firewall running on the DNS-323.

BTW. I originally had RC5 installed, but, decided to downgrade to RC4 because of the Network Data Corruption issue indicated with RC5.

If anyone has some thoughts on what I might have missed in terms of configuration, that would be great.

Thanks

Bumping an old issue that I was never able to resolve.

I'd anyone monitoring their Alt-F using SNMP? Would be good to hear that it's possible.

I'm using netsnmp 5.5.2-1 on Alt-F 0.1RC4.1

Thanks.

netsnmp exists because its libraries are a requirement for other packages.
It was only lightly tested, and thus don't have a user init script.
Although basically working, I verified that it has issues, that I'm investigating and I will trying to solve them. If I succeed you will see a new package release for it.
I'm not familiar with it.

A new netsnmp pkg release is now available, it has an initscript (not webUI displayed) and a new configuration file, please read and adapt it if needed.
