Just reporting this FWIW, in case there are other DNS-321 owners ...

Upgrade to 1.0 from 0.1rc5 went without incident, and the box appears to be functioning normally.

I also installed 1.0, on a dns-321a2, this time from the stock 1.0.3 firmware. Process was fairly painless, except for the very confusng way to set the main password. "Again" without clarification was not obvious enough for me.

However, I'm seeing truly abysmal performance. It has two 1TB drives, using Raid0, formatted as ext4, and right now filling up at a rate of less than 2MB/s.

What rates are you seeing?

2MBps looks like it is being accessed through wireless. is it? No other activity on the box?
