Hi folks!

I'm running 1.0 on a DNS-323-B1.

I believe there's a filesystem created by original firmware, that takes 500MB of space (image attached).

I was thinking in using this filesystem to have Debian installed, to start playing with it. However, while trying to install on it, it gaves me the error, also attached:

Does anyone know what is this?

THe only thing I found that might be the issue is from here, but even applied, no success:

Could it be related?

Don't think so.

I couldn't reproduce your issue:

I'm having the same issue, were you able to figure it out?

Nops...... :-(

Also, what will be the benefits of having Debian? Just to have a "pure Linux" box?

To be honest, the main reason for me is to install btsync.

On a DNS-321/323 you have to install first the Alt-F package libcurl.

cdebootstrap-0.7.5 and latter, who installs Debian, needs curl.
I wasn't initially able to reproduce the issue that Paulo reported because I tried it on a DNS-320L, which has libcurl pre installed.

Thanks

I already had libcurl installed. That being said, it get farther today than it did earlier...

Now I am gettting this:

I: Can't find keyring debian-archive-keyring.gpg
P: Retrieving Release
P: Retrieving Release.gpg
W: Couldn't validate Release!
P: Parsing Release
P: Retrieving Packages.xz
P: Validating Packages.xz
sh: sha256sum: Permission denied
P: Retrieving Packages.gz
P: Validating Packages.gz
sh: sha256sum: Permission denied
E: Couldn't download Packages!

I tried the sha fix mentioned in the link earlier and still have the same problem.

Vivek, how did you manage this? Can you please just do a kind of step-by-step on it, just to see if I missed something on the process? Also, it might help someone with same issue in the future! :-)

Thanks!

I can't reproduce your results on a clean install, I even tried your brasilian mirror.

The error
E: Couldn't download Release!

means that the Release file can't be downloaded from the Debian mirror.
That file is downloaded using the curl program, which is part of the libcurl Alt-F package.
Can you please try the command curl from the command line to see if it is properly installed? Please post the command output.
If some error appears try removing and reinstalling the libcurl Alt-F package.

The warning
W: Couldn't validate Release!
Is justs that, a warning that will appear after the Release file is downloaded

P: Validating Packages.xz
sh: sha256sum: Permission denied

Shouldn't happens in 1.0, and there is no need to install sha256 (as instructed and attached in another related thread), as it is now included in the firmware.

Thanks!

I didn’t do anything different. It was just able to work. However once I got past that issue, I had the issue that was in the link you provided and just followed it.
