Dear Friends!

You may have heard:  We found a site for the Local Store!!  Downtown Amherst -- the Souper Bowl restaurant site next to Food For Thought books.

It's a FABULOUS site for the producer-consumer cooperative.  Big enough for farmers and local craftspeople to each have their own marketplace spots.  Small enough to be downtown.   Includes a walk-in cooler to store farmer's produce and dairy.  It has a commercial kitchen for a cafe, cooking demonstrations, and food canning and preservation parties!

Deadline: July 31  That is the date we must sign the lease or lose the store.  We didn't expect to find such a great location on such short notice!  We have 38 days to join together as coop members to secure the site.

If we come together quickly to launch the coop, we hope to have an initial marketplace open in time to help our farmers this harvest season.

Will you help?

1.  Join the coop.  $50 membership makes you an inaugural member of the coop, with full membership benefits.

To add your name to the list of inaugural, first-year members, send an email with your phone number and address to:  AllThingsL...@gmail.com.  We'll send you a web link to send your membership fee.
OR just write a $50 check made out to All Things Local and mail it to:  All Things Local, c/o 329 Pine Street, Amherst, MA, 01002.

2.  Tell your friends.  Please forward this message.

3.  Host a simple
Neighborhood Party.  Already seven people have offered to host a Neighborhood Party or Farm Party!  Invite your neighbors and one of the farmers or Working Group members will come for 30-45 minutes to share this exciting model, answer questions, and invite people to become inaugural, first-year members with full member benefits.  We see these neighborhood conversations as ways to hear your ideas for how to create this new community space!  Email:  TinaCl...@gmail.com
The first Neighborhood party is tonight, Monday, June 24 (see below).
The first Farm Party is Wednesday, June 26.

Five other neighbors/farms have offered to host Neighborhood/Farm Parties, including:  Madeleine Charney, David Sharken, and Simple Gifts Farm.          Will you host one, too?

Our July goal is 20 parties by July 31, and 300 Inaugural Members.

Everyone is welcome to participate!  You don't have to live in Amherst.  Together we can launch a new marketplace to support our local producers.

T
ogether we can create a year-round, indoor farmers and crafts market to support our local economy, preserve our historic farms, support new farmers, buy from local craftspeople, and strengthen community resilience.
