Further, we hope that other researchers will create different types of wiki surveys, particularly wiki surveys in which respondents themselves help to generate the question. -- from http://arxiv.org/pdf/1202.0500v2.pdf
That is a good idea. I like that.

Is there some survey for crating questions? Is there some general survey?
I mean something like survey with the questions like: What question do you want to answer more? What is most desirable to do/solve now? What now?

Do you find a good idea to create some surveys like the above?

I have a longer philosophical talking to the questions too. If you want to hear it feel free to ask me :)

HI Michal,

Thanks for generating that question.

At this point, there is no more general way that respondents can either:
1) answer more than one question in a wiki survey
2) propose new questions to be added

Honestly, I’m not quite sure how either would work in practice.  And, I hope that someone will figure it out.

Take care,
Matt

Hi Matt,

I am also not sure how it will work in practice. Let's us see what we can think out.

IMHO question is a set of restrictions. In our case the questions also need to share the same scale (e.g. best-worst scale, true-false scale).

Now we can imagine these scales in n-dimensional space. Scale might be a straight line and restrictions select some points on that line. The whole process of more questions and proposing questions is now about selecting lines and points in a graph. All relevant mathematical operations might be possible.

The voter might be able to select his line or some sum of lines. Select the direction of the scale (descending, ascending ). Impose his restrictions. And vote.
E.g. Select green (ecological) scale and great (public interest) scale. Select greener (ascending green) and greater (ascending great). Select "New York City". And vote.

What do you think?

In the end I have to add a disclaimer. I am not a linguist, nor mathematician :)

Take care,
Michael

Matt,

it actually was not my original intention to think about more questions or adding questions. The multidimensional model seems to be wrong. The sum of geographical areas(area restriction) will not create global scale.
My original intention was to create a relevant general question (but I have forgotten about it in the middle of thinking:))

We may imagine that wikipedia has a general question: What is, what exists? This question is resembling me metaphysical philosophy. But I do not think metaphysically, I am more anthropocentric and wiki surveys are too. For my personal uses I use the "What is most desirable to do now?" question, but this needs to be modified for public purposes. E.g. What is more in global public interest? I expect some bias in the results, but see important to ask such a questions and bring it into public awareness.
Are you interested in some kind of general question, Matt ? or others ?

Regards,
Michael

... after one and half a year ... :D
Hi,
I have found the question. And it is:

"What do you want to do in society?"

I am using it in my projects and it is working great. So, it is in Czech:"Co chcete dělat ve společnosti?"

I am sorry if it is not the answer to

1) answer more than one question in a wiki survey
2) propose new questions to be added

1. would be probably - just a link to next survey
or making a question to cover both topics
2. would be probably - just a new survey

Both is more on the side of users, I think

Good luck
Michal

Hello Michal,

Thank you for your suggestions.  Right now it is not possible for a wiki survey to have more than one question.  And, therefore it is also not possible for participants to suggestion new questions.

We do think that these would be good features to add.

Take care,
Matt
