Subject: Update on IPBES including the second session of IPBES plenary
Dear Colleagues,
Following the decision of the IPBES Bureau last week, we are pleased to inform you that the second session of the IPBES plenary (IPBES-2) will be held in Antalya, Turkey from 9 to 14 December 2013. Details of the online registration process can be found at
www.ipbes.net/plenary/registration-ipbes-2
The deadline for registration is August 19th, and please note that it will not be possible for any non-government observers who were not present at IPBES-1 to register to participate in IPBES-2 after this date.
As part of the current intersessional process, various draft documents prepared by the Bureau and Multidisciplinary Expert Panel will be available online for review from next week at:
www.ipbes.net/intersessional-process. This includes the draft IPBES work programme, stakeholder engagement strategy, guidance on the development of strategic partnerships, and procedures for the preparation
of IPBES deliverables.
In addition, various regional consultations in preparation for IPBES-2 are also under preparation. Further details can be found at
www.ipbes.net/related-events.
Finally, a reminder that all members of the Platform have been invited to submit the name and contact details of their IPBES focal point to the Secretariat. This will greatly facilitate communication between the Secretariat and members of the Platform. In addition,
the Plenary, in Decision IPBES/1/4 also invited members to submit any questions related to the options available for establishing the Platform’s Trust Fund by 30th June, which will provide the basis for documentation relating to this issue to be
made available for IPBES-2.
