Alfresco 5.0.c. I dont get the usual looking explorer when i type http://localhost:8080/alfresco:

Has explorer been replaced with this or is something wrong with my binary install? I also can not get to the tomcat home page (http://192.168.123.200:8080)

Yes, Explore was (at long last) killed in 5.0...see http://ecmarchitect.com/archives/2014/11/06/3962

So, since the consoles are gone, multi-tenancy is gone also or is there a different way to use multi-tenancy is 5.0.c?

I don't know much about multi tenancy, but from a tiny bit of Googling: Does this help?

More generally, docs.alfresco.com is a pretty useful resource...

Yea, that first link says you have to create the tenant with the console and the console goes through explorer which is not there anymore.

If you are running 5.0.c, can you see if you can get to that above address?

Yep, seen this but this goes no where:

eb Script Status 404 - Not Found

The Web Script /alfresco/service/enterprise/admin has responded with a status of 404 - Not Found.

404 Description:Requested resource is not available.

Exception:org.springframework.extensions.webscripts.WebScriptException - 00180020 Script url /enterprise/admin does not map to a Web Script.

Also, not that we are running community and not alfresco one.

The docs for Community 5.0 are at http://docs.alfresco.com/community/concepts/welcome-infocenter_community.html. I don't know if multi tenancy is still a part of CE or if it's now EE only....

Can anyone out there confirm either multi-tenancy is or is not in 5.0.c CE?
How can 1 handle different tenant URL generation? Is there a way to get the browser address into the alfresco URL generation? So, when a tenant from share.domain.tld sends an invite, gets an email or any notification it will look like share.domain.tld? In the alfresco.global.properties file you can set some of the URL generation functions but all notifications look like whatever you set here. We would like it to look like the tenants separate instance.

G’day Chris,

The old JSF-based consoles (MT, model, workflow, etc.) were migrated to the new Web Script-based repo admin framework as part of the Explorer removal work.  It just so happens that that framework was not included in Community, so the consoles accidentally disappeared from Community at the same time.

This was an unfortunate accident and certainly not Alfresco’s intention, and there’s work underway to remedy it.  Richard (cc’ed) is managing that work and should be able to provide more details on both what we’re doing and when that work will surface.

Apologies for the (temporary) confusion around this.

Cheers,
Peter

I wrote a blog post that provides a little more information regarding
the removal of Explorer, the administration consoles, and other changes
in 5.0:

http://richard.esplins.org/siwi/2014/11/03/important-changes-alfresco-50b/

We expect to get that work done in the next few months.

If you depend on the removed functionality, I recommend you wait to
upgrade until 5.1.

Thank you Peter and Ian for the help in answering the questions.

Yea, i read that blog before my first post about this issue. I didn't see where it was clearly stated that multi-tenancy was gone.......
Anyway, i already upgraded to 5.0.c (thats how i know it was missing). I should be able to "downgrade"? Does 5.0.b have multi-tenancy or will i need to go back to 5.0.a?

The multi-tenancy capability is not gone, just the console to administer
it. The console was removed in 5.0.b.

Downgrading is completely untested and rather dangerous. Downgrading to
5.0.a would include reversing a lot of the development in 5.0, and I'm
not sure how much those affected the database schema. It would also
probably require a reindex since you would be downgrading Solr.

I think a safer option is to wait until we get the administration
consoles added back in to the nightly builds of 5.1.a and then upgrade
to the nightly (on a test environment first). I don't have an estimate
yet for when the work will be completed, but we are discussing weeks
(not months).

There was some work to re-implement some of this functionality as part
of Alfresco Shell Tools, but I only believe that they worked on the
workflow console.

https://github.com/bmejias/alfresco-shell-tools

Sorry,

Richard

I understand both that things happen and downgrading would be to costly! I will do my best to keep my users at bay :)
Are you still thinking weeks or months?
