Alfresco 5.0.c CE. Is the tomcat manager app missing in 5.0.c? I have installed alfresco 5.0.c more than 2 times using the wizard installer and all those times, I have not been able to access tomcat manager (http://ip:8080). Is tomcat manager missing in 5.0.c?

I don’t have Community 5.0.0c, but in Enterprise 5.0.0 the following URL works*:

* note: by default there are no users configured for the manager webapp, so this URL returns a 401 Unauthorised error, but that still confirms that the webapp is indeed installed and available.

Cheers,
Peter

Thank you Peter! Yes, in fact that does work. However, what i was trying to say is the tomcat homepage (http://localhost:8080) which, i believe, has a link to the manager is not working for my installs. Should it be?

The so-called “ROOT” webapp, which by default provides the Tomcat help page and links to the other management webapps, was removed as it interfered with the Sharepoint protocol (SPP).  On Enterprise 5.0.0, http://localhost:8080/ displays the text “Welcome to Alfresco!” - what do you see?

There was a proposal (in ACE-3067 [1]) to have non-SPP requests to “/” redirected to “/alfresco” (since that page has useful links), but that proposal wasn’t implemented.  I can’t say for certain why this didn’t happen (Richard, cc’ed may know for certain), but I suspect it was probably just a time issue.

Regardless, the current behaviour (on both Community and Enterprise) is user-unfriendly (albeit easy enough to workaround, once you know it), and imho would be worth fixing in a future build.  Are you able to raise a JIRA for it, perhaps referencing ACE-3067?
