Dear all,
In the irc channel we were discussing with iancrew about the possibility of
setting Alfresco to read-only mode without restarting the server. By read-only
mode we mean not only to prevent users from uploading or modifying documents,
but really, not having any write attempts from Alfresco to the database.
For instance, when Alfresco Enterpise does not find a valid license, it will
turn the system into read-only mode, and users would still be able to log in. If
they log in, and auditing is activated, the auditing system will attempt to
write the login-fact into the database, and we want to prevent that because the
system is in read-only mode.
So, there are two set of questions here. The first one is:
1. Is it possible to dynamically turn Afresco into real read-only mode?
2. Is it possible to turn Afresco into real read-only mode by modifying
alfresco-global.properties? (requiring restart of the server)
The second set of question is the following:
3. What is the meaning of the property server.transaction.allow-writes in
bean Alfresco:Name=GlobalProperties?
4. What is the meaning of the property server.transaction.mode.readOnly in
bean Alfresco:Name=GlobalProperties?
5. What if server.transaction.allow-write and server.transaction.mode.readOnly
are both set to true?
6. What about the property server.allowWrite in bean
Alfresco:Category=sysAdmin,Type=Configuration,id1=default ? anything to do with
server.transaction.allow-write? I didn't find this property on the documentation
Thanks in advance for any answer to any of these questions.
cheers
Boriss
