Just stumbled across the project and have been reading with great interest as several people in my local community would like to measure air quality.
I presently have some Google powermeters pushing data to COSM, but pushing data about environmental conditions, particularly air quality is even more interesting. I was looking at using a teensy (arduino, www.pjrc.com) but the AQE looks quite advanced. I appreciate that readings may not be stable, but since the processing is available on-board it can only be a matter of time ;)
The map shows a few eggs here in Sydney as I was wondering if anybody local is active in this group and would mind showing me one/having a chat?
Cheers, Niff
Somewhat against my better judgement, I'll respond to you.
- The Air Quality Egg project *is* still actively being developed
- We (other members of the community, including myself) continue to work on improving hardware, firmware, and software across the board, as well as deploying more Eggs worldwide
- I'm not going to bash Smart Citizen (they use the same fundamental sensor technology as Air Quality Egg after all) but don't they have their own forums?
Kind Regards,
Vic
Attaching a screenshot of the east coast of Australia. Hope this helps.
Mark,
What do you think the next steps are on getting your fork merged / deployed to airqualityegg.com? How can I help out?
On an unrelated note, do you have any slick ideas on how to handle overlapping eggs (at least at the m most local zoom)?
Regards,
Vic

As with the second question, I would suggest using something like clustering as seen in this Leaflet example: http://leaflet.github.io/Leaflet.markercluster/example/marker-clustering-realworld.388.html which would require a change from Google Maps to Leaflet. I dont see any options for something like this using Google Maps.
Looking at Git-Hub it looks like you are continuing to make some pretty cool progress with adding stuff like heat maps and pulling in other data. Leaflet seems pretty nice too, if you wanted to depart from Google maps, I don't mind, not sure if others have a stronger opinion on the matter.

Vic
