Hello,

We are getting ad type of IMAGE_AD in ad-performance-report for GDN.
However we noticed that recently we cannot get the value of IMAGE_AD in some accounts.
Can it happen?

If you know how to get around this matter, please let us know.

Thanks.

Akiko

Hello,

Could you provide SOAP response for the ad-performance-report? Please provide CampaignId, AdGroupId and AdId for which AdType is not returned. Just click Reply privately to author in the forum when responding. Don't forget to remove the developer token in the output.

Thanks,
Umesh, AdWords API Team.

Hi Akiko,

I've raised the issue with the reporting team and they're looking into it, but don't have any updates yet. It appears that this only impacts TemplateAds, as is the case with the ad ID you sent to Umesh. If you see this with other ad types, please provide the ad group ID and ad ID so I can pass that information along.

I'll post back here once I have any updates.

Thanks,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Hi team,

Is there any update for the issue?

I have one question regarding TemplateAds.
How can we get images of TemplateAds for reporting?

Please let us know.

Regards,
Akiko

Hi Akiko,

I don't have any progress to report at this time, but I'll post here as soon as I do.

Regarding retrieving template ads as images, you won't be able to do this via reporting, but you can use AdGroupAdService and retrieve the TemplateAd.adAsImage field.

Cheers,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Hi Akiko,

The fix to show AdType for template ads has been released. Please let me know if you are still observing this issue.

Thank you,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Hi Josh,

Thank you for your happy announce.
We try it.

But the thing we need most is getting the images of template ads, it is still unable, isn't it?

Hi Akiko,

I would be surprised if we ever return the images of template ads in reports. The image data could be massive and isn't human-readable, so reporting is not a good fit for this information.

However, you can get some images back using the SOAP services. In particular, if you uploaded the image via MediaService.upload and use the returned mediaId when creating the image template element field in the TemplateAd, then you can use MediaService.get (or query) to retrieve the Urls attribute of each image. In that attribute, you'll find a key for FULL that has a link to the image.

        <entries xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="Image">
          <mediaId>165439994</mediaId>
          <type>IMAGE</type>
          <referenceId>1458326038508470272</referenceId>
          ...
          <urls>
            <key>PREVIEW</key>
            <value>https://tpc.googlesyndication.com/simgad/19...77</value>
          </urls>
          <urls>
            <key>FULL</key>
            <value>https://tpc.googlesyndication.com/simgad/16...12</value>
          </urls>
          <urls>
            <key>SHRUNKEN</key>
            <value>https://tpc.googlesyndication.com/simgad/67...32</value>
          </urls>
          <sourceUrl/>
          <name/>
          <Media.Type>Image</Media.Type>
        </entries>

Hope that info is helpful.

Cheers,
Josh, AdWords API Team
