Migrating from Google Adwords API to Google Ads API for Historical Monthly Search volume

Hello, 

      I am trying to make the change from google Adwords to google ads. When I use the google Adwords API is use the targeting idea service to obtain historical monthly search volumes. In the new API, I am trying to use the generate historical metrics service to try and obtain the same results. I have started to get results from this new service, however, it is drastically different results than I got with the old service. It was my understanding that I'd be able to obtain the same results, could anyone tell me if there is something additional I have to do to get the same results?

I haven't heard that having a basic access token would changes the metrics generation.

Regarding the logs you sent us, it appears that my colleague had tried to reach you without success, his answer is posted below.

Thank you for providing additional details about your concern regarding the differences between the AdWords API and Google Ads API's planning services.

Firstly, you may note that the Google Ads API's generate historical metrics feature should mirror more what is currently available in the Google Ads UI's Keyword Planner UI (see mapping section).

That said, we recommend that you compare the UI and the Google Ads API instead. If you find that there are significant discrepancies between the two, you may provide to our team the complete screenshot of the Keyword Planner view and also the complete request and response logs, with the request-id of your API request.

If you haven't yet, logging can be enabled by navigating to the Client libraries > Your client library (ex. Java) > Logging documentation, which you can access from this link.

You may then provide the requested details in this private thread, instead of posting it back into the forum page.

Hello, 

       How can I get equivalent results from the Google AdWords' TargetingIdeaService? My goal with using this API is to get an accurate number of the average number of searches per month for a specific keyword. The results I had gotten from the Google Ads API that I had sent over seemed unusually low for what I thought it was describing, were those accurate? I do not want a scale value like Google Trends produces. How can I do this with the new API?

If you are looking for the equivalent service of AdWords API in Google Ads API, then I would suggest referring to this document.

Also, could you confirm if you tried comparing the results of TargetingIdeaService and GenerateHistoricalMetrics, and the low result was observed only in the Google Ads API? If you can provide the sample complete SOAP request and response logs for AdWords API and complete request and response logs with request ID of Google Ads API, it will be helpful in our investigation.
