Triton College’s Sustainable Agriculture Technology (SAT) AAS and Sustainable Food Production certificate program is for working professionals that have an interest in changing the food system as most of the courses are online and hybrid.   In-district cost no matter your home address of $108 per credit plus fees for those considering transitioning into urban agriculture and need more knowledge of sustainable food systems.  The Sustainable Food Production certificate is a total of 13 credits and 5 courses and can be finished in two semesters.

Different policies for different types of urban farms, composting, soil safety, and aquaculture, hydroponics, and aquaponics are covered.   There are many great non-profits and internships offering the valuable hands on skills for growing food. The biggest challenges are navigating the complex policies, issues, markets, reductionist sciences, and tremendous funding opportunities available to food systems entrepreneurs.

A partial listing of the Spring online/hybrid courses in SAT starting January 20 are listed below:

SAT 100 Principles of Agroecology
SAT 105 Urban Agriculture Issues
SAT 110 Natural Resource Management
SAT 210 Sustainable Plant Production for Human Nutrition
SAT 230 Managing Food Production Systems in Urban Landscapes
BIS 205 Field Ecology
HRT 125 Plants and Society

If you start the registration process by January 13 you still have time to sign up for classes!
