Hi, all --

Citizens Greener Evanston is hosting a Green Drinks event on food waste.  The networking-discussion features 3 local Evanston experts.  See details in attached announcement.

The event is free, with options to purchase drinks or food from the Celtic Knot menu.  Open to all.

Celtic Knot is in downtown Evanston (across from the main library).  It is very accessible (less than 3 blocks) by mass transit:
CTA Purple Line
Metra North line
CTA 201, 205, 93
Pace 208, 213, 250
Northwestern's private bus line from NU's Chicago campus (if you're a member of the NU community)

Also, Evanston is now part of the Divvy bike-share community.  There's at least one dock nearby.

Addresses Food Waste in Evanston

The EPA estimates that at least 30 percent of food in the U.S. goes uneaten. Evanston alone produces an estimate 270 tons of food waste each week. All that uneaten food rots in landfills where it accounts for a major portion of greenhouse gas emissions. Find out what some Evanston groups are doing to address this major issue in our own community, and come with your questions. Panelists:
When: Wednesday, Sept. 28, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Where:
The Celtic Knot, 636 Church St. (back room)
