Hello,
Chicago Park District’s Harvest Garden program is looking for gardeners to fill several seasonal youth education positions!
Harvest Garden is a three-season gardening education program for kids age 6-12. This position averages about 12-20 hours per week (4-5 days) from late April through late October. It’s a great opportunity for anyone who has some experience growing organic herbs and vegetables, and enjoys tapping into the natural curiosities of children.
Staff are responsible for running weekly gardening programs, teaching kids the fundamentals of growing their own food and exploring the many different experiences gardens have to offer, as well as keeping up with the maintenance of several small gardens in assigned parks.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with kids in a group setting, have a basic understanding of growing edible crops, and must be willing and able to work independently and travel to all areas of the city.
Please pass this opportunity along to anyone you may know who might be a good fit! Applications are available online, and will be accepted through March 5th.
Thanks!
