Hello AUA!

Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance is offering two beekeeping classes this fall – Beginning Beekeeping and Beyond Basic Beekeeping. Both classes are taught by Marcin Matelski, our Head Beekeeper & Educator. Our Beginning Beekeeping Class is a 5 hour class that covers the basics of tools and equipment and gets into how to manage your hive and troubleshoot along the way. Beyond Basic Beekeeping is a hands-on class where you can focus on getting your hives ready for winter and take a look at some of our hives to see different techniques we employ to aid our bees. Both classes have a focus on natural methods for pest reduction and maintaining the health of the bees.

·         Beginning Beekeeping classes are 9am-2pm on Saturday, October 1 (a few spots left), Sunday, November 13, or Saturday, January 28, with more classes for February and March to come.

·         Beyond Basic Beekeeping is scheduled for Sunday, October 2 from 11:30am-2:30pm.

If you’re not sure if you’re ready to start beekeeping or have another bee related question, stop by our Beekeeping Demonstrations on Tuesdays & Saturdays from 11-12:30pm through September to ask volunteer beekeepers questions.

Save the date! Our annual Bee Forum is set for Sunday, March 26, 2017. Details to be announced in the coming weeks.
