FamilyFarmed took a road trip Monday to Pecatonica, Illinois, where Andy Hazzard grows heirloom grain with organic practices at Hazzard Free Farm, and Gretta Winkelbauer and husband Eric Strong's pasture-raised goats produce milk for Gretta's Goats soaps and cheese. A beautiful day on the farms... with goats!

This story is full of photos, plus a video of Andy Hazzard and Ellen King of Hewn Bread (of Evanston, Illinois) talking about how heirloom grains benefit biodiversity and health, and make better bread. The Organic Field Day on Andy's Farm was organized by Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES) and Ograin (Organic Grain Research and Information Network at University of Wisconsin).
