Hi, all --

Attached is an announcement for the 2016 Factory Farm Summit, to be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Or go directly to this link for full conference details:

The conference proceedings are affordable:

Saturday, September 10th

  • CAFO Bus Tour (limited to 50 participants): $25
  •  Native Feast and Opening Keynote: $25

Sunday, September 11th

  • All day Summit with lunch included: $25
Today (Monday, August 22) is the last day for discounted hotel rates.

Based on my experience with three long-time activists here in Illinois (Karen Hudson, Danielle Diamond, and Loka Ashwood) and looking at the long list of speakers, I think that this will be a mature, balanced, and practical conference. Dani and Loka are speakers at this conference, as are John Ikerd, John Peck, and many other professional and grassroots activists.

While the overall program is geared towards rural farmers and residents, this would be a great opportunity for urban people to learn about rural life and show solidarity with rural people around community, accountability, animal rights, and natural resource conservation -- and all the national policies in which rural and urban people have standing.

Throughout rural America factory farms are expanding at an unprecedented rate. As a direct result, the air in rural communities is increasingly polluted, local waterways and wells are fouled, and farmers and rural citizens are finding themselves in a position of fighting for their homes, their businesses, and rural quality of life.

Next Month the Socially Responsible Agricultural Project, Midwest Environmental Advocates, Kewaunee CARES and Farms Not Factories will be hosting farmers and rural residents from across the country who are on the front-lines of factory farm expansion for the 2016 Factory Farm Summit – Demanding Accountability in Animal Agriculture.
Thanks to all of our sponsors (See below) this day and a half long conference will bring together leading experts on factory farming issues to work directly with those citizens most impacted. The event will be an opportunity to network, workshop and learn new ways to stop the expansion of factory farms and hold bad-actor operations accountable for the pollution produced.

Who should attend this event?  The 2016 Factory Farm Summit is going to be geared toward providing tools for:

  • Farmers and rural residents threatened by a proposed factory farm in their community;
  • Farmers and rural residents living with an existing operation that is causing problems for the local community.

The Summit is focused on promoting responsible farmers and ranchers while holding polluting industrial animal agriculture accountable. For more information on the weekend events, the conference schedule and/or to purchase tickets, please visit: http://www.sraproject.org/standing-up-fighting-back/
