Folks,

In case you missed it, JSF 2.3 recently released it's public review
(this is the last review before the specification becomes proposed
final). Feel free to take a look at my write-up on the topic here:
http://blog.rahmannet.net/2017/01/jsf-23-public-review-starts-now.html.
This is a great time to engage with this JSR via Adopt-a-JSR. This is a
JSR that has been very heavily driven by community contribution from the
start (and I mean many direct code commits). It is very well deserving
in terms of support from JUGs for that reason alone. If you are
interested, you should start a discussion in the copied Google Group.

The Philly JUG won't be adopting this particular JSR only because we are
adopting other extremely critical JSRs such as Java EE 8, Java EE
Security, Servlet 4 and Java SE 9.

If you have any questions on any of this I am happy to try to help the
best I can, including connecting you to the right folks.

Cheers,
Reza

Folks,

I am not sure how many of you are aware of the new JCP membership types
that were introduced last year. Here is my write-up on it:
http://blog.rahmannet.net/2017/03/new-java-community-process-jcp.html. A
lot of it is targeted towards JUGs and Adopt-a-JSR.

The Philly JUG has taken full advantage of these changes. If you have
any questions on any of this, I am happy to help.

Cheers,
Reza

Hey Reza,

awesome article about the new JCP Membership Types!

Could I work on to translate this article to Portuguese language and present it at my JUG?

Yes, please do. In fact there is no reason to even give me credit. You can just use the text as you wish.

Hello Reza !

I loved your very explanatory article.

I am currently listed as a contributor to JSR-371 (MVC 1.0) and would like to hear some tips from you about good practices contributing to JSRs. If you can share some of your experiences in JSR.

Thank you

Thanks very much for your kind words. The honest truth is that there is no right or wrong way to contribute. Any contribution is a helpful contribution. And believe me any contribution is very much appreciated, even if it is just supporting a JSR on paper.

Beyond this the only other thing I would say is ask the lead what would really help them.

What worries me is how few people contribute and how little they contribute.

I understand people are busy, but I would ask people to see this as an investment into their own future. That's how an old platform like Java can remain strong, not because of what vendors do or don't do.

Hello Reza!

I agree with your words, I contribute little, I'm still new to open source and would like to do more, both for community and for my professional growth. And the little that I have seen of the JSR's has added a lot of value and more enriching the knowledge in Java.

Many thanks for the tips.

hugs.

Folks,

In case you missed it, Java EE Security recently released it's first
early draft review. Feel free to take a look at my write-up on the topic
here:
http://blog.rahmannet.net/2017/03/java-ee-security-early-draft-review.html.
This is a great time to engage with this JSR via Adopt-a-JSR. This is a
JSR that has been very heavily driven by community contribution from the
start (and I mean many, many direct code commits). This is not a JSR
that honestly would have happened for Java EE 8 without the community
behind it. It is very well deserving in terms of support from JUGs for
that reason alone. If you are interested, you should start a discussion
in the copied Google Group.

The Philly JUG has long adopted this particular JSR in addition to Java
EE 8, Servlet 4 and Java SE 9.

In case you missed it, Servlet 4 just released it's public review (this
is the last review before the specification becomes proposed final).
Feel free to take a look at my write-up on the topic here:
http://blog.rahmannet.net/2017/04/servlet-4-public-review-starts-now.html.
This is a great time to engage with this JSR via Adopt-a-JSR. Servlet 4
is easily the most critical component of Java EE 8. It is very well
deserving in terms of support from JUGs for that reason alone. If you
are interested, you should start a discussion in the copied Google Group.

The Philly JUG has long adopted this particular JSR in addition to Java
EE 8, Java EE Security and Java SE 9.

Hi Reza,

Is the reference implementation is ready for testing Servlet 4 ? especially the Push API?

Thanks.

From what I understand, this is an issue with Chrome and Flash support that's being worked on. Please try another browser?
