I created a ps file from FrameMaker 7.0 and tried to run it through Distiller 4.0. This is the error message I got:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: } ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

Could someone tell me what went wrong?

Thanks

Don't know.

But ... the minimum requirement for Windows 2000 is Distiller 4.05c.

The minimum requirement for Windows XP is Distiller 5.0.5.

Do you have the minimum?

Cheers,

Sean

Hmmmmm, well ... I'd suggest using Distiller 5 or 6 with FM 7.

But, failing that, what printer is your default when you print your FM to PDF?

Have you tried File > Print as well as Save as to get the PDF?

Cheers,

Sean

Thanks, Sean. I am using Windows 2000 and Distiller 5.0 (there was an error in the earlier message.)

There is no Distiller Printer on my machine. Do you know from where I can get a Distiller Printer and how to install it? The IT person who helped me install the software does not know the answer.

Thanks

Jean

It is on the FM install CD.

Use the FM CD to install the distiller printer.

BUT, FM 7 installs Distiller 5, not 4, so am not sure where you are getting distiller 4 from. If I were you, I'd uninstall all your printers, all versions of Acrobat and Distiller, and FrameMaker.

Reinstall FrameMaker, then Acrobat/Distiller, and that should install the Distiller printer instance, also. Finally, install any remaining printer drivers for physical printers you have connected to your network or PC (these have nothing to do with Acrobat or PDFing).

Cheers,

Sean
