.Hi All,

Does anybody ever merge  a workflow engine(open source etc..)  into  a ADF application ?  Do you give me some comments or references ?

If you are ok with not-open-source than you should probably look into Oracle BPM's solution that has built in integration with ADF.
Basic info in this seminar:

Hi,
I saw a couple of time the use of Oracle SOA Suite Rules Engine with ADF through it's Java APIs, I'm not sure about the licenses but I guess you can have a license of the Rules Engine on its own!

Best Regards,

A long time ago, I integrated the legacy Oracle Worfklow product (the one that was used in the E-Business Suite) with an ADF app by simply using the PL/SQL APIs. That Workflow product is long since deprecated, however...

hi John,

Is Oracle Workflow is deprecated? But Oracle is still using in its EBS suite applications.

Thanks

I have integrated an ADF application with Oracle Workflow (and still am). It is in full use in Oracle Ebusiness Suite.
Integration is through pl/sql APIs, database queries and url parameters calling from workflow notifications into the ADF application. I use Oracle Workflow for driving approvals of data (invoices and requests) maintained by the ADF application.

Many thanks Shay.

I just looked through the reference, it looks like the Oracle BPM solution is heavyweight for me and the license also is a limitation.  I’m not sure if  ADF can support JBPM or other 3rd workflow frameworks(open source, lightweight..) well,

especially if I totally use ADF BC for O/R mapping part.  One year ago , my team tried to use Spring/Hibernate/JBPM as Data Model layer, ADF as data controller and view layer to finish a project. It’s just running well till now.

And then, I want to use pure ADF technology(means ADF BC for O/R mapping) to development a new project, it looks just a little crazy…..

Does anybody can give me some suggestions?

Yes, we worked with a customer several years ago where BPEL was used (as part of SOA Suite) to handle complex workflows while using ADF to provide a rich UI. For a good description of the architecture, see this article:

Although not open source, the orchestration provided by BPEL + the Human Workflow service in SOA Suite made this easier (the human workflow service is the same component available in BPM Suite). It seems that as long as the workflow technology can be exposed as services you can build an ADF application on top of it.

Hi,

We are currently integrating Oracle work flows with ADF MOBILE on the approval process of SCM module.

As long as fusion apps comes into full swing, people will tend to use Oracle workflow in ebusiness suite applications.

hi,

I think EBS r12.2 (release2)  using weblogic in the middle tier. Fusion tech stack can be the best choice in EBS from release2 onwards.
