automated regression tests for ADF applications

In the context of the discussion topic "ADF application browser support strategy" Sten Vesterli gave the following interesting feedback [1]:
"What we can do as ADF developers: Create a set of automated regression tests so we are able to move easily to later JDev versions. ..."

Although easing migration is an important aspect of a good "browser support strategy", the idea of automated regression tests is itself a more general topic.

It would be interesting to hear from people that have successfuly been using automated regression tests for ADF applications.
Maybe questions could be answered like which tools they used, how they benefited from such tests (at migration time), ...
At the same time, maybe there are some who can give feedback on why they don't have automated regression tests for their ADF applications, ...
